I've been into boarding marines a good while now, and with my dining table too small for a decent game of ordinary 40k, I'm intending to test out the Zone Mortalis rules. That means stratagem models and terrain are needed!

First up is a Fire Wasp. Some people have made flying versions, but I wanted a small tracked vehicle with WYSIWYG equipment.

The model is inspired by this and made out of an old Epic land raider. I'm also intending to add a dozer blade to the front so it can clear rubble.

Only question now is whether to paint it black to match my Iron Hands or go with a generic imperial colour scheme so it can be used with a wider range of armies.

The fire wasp isn't finished yet as the dozer blade I ordered from eBay hasn't arrived. I'll post a picture as soon as it's done.

However, I did make some map tiles from these. I had a few teething problems with wrinkles as I used PVA to stick the printed tiles to some black card, but they came out looking pretty good in the end. Here are just a few of the tiles with some models for scale.

I had my first game using these today. I lost due to a massive tactical error, but it was very tense and suitably claustrophobic.
