So one question that I came up with the other night was what happens when pieces of, well, gods meet each other.

So we know that two factions are able to pieces of gods: the Necrons and the Craftworld Eldar. I don't know of any place that describes them meeting each other than the Necrons fusing the C'tan back together to make better batteries. Being an Eldar player the thought two Avatars of Khaine meeting together is interesting to me as what thoughts would go through their minds. Do they recognize themselves or see a different entity? Would they try to fuse back together or would by this point do they have separate personalities?

I imagine that the C'tan would be more focused on resembling themselves but that might just be because they don't have the chance. The Avatars would seem to have the option to be in contact if they really desired it, though it seems to me that as pieces of a God of War they don't really think what we would call rationally. What are your thoughts?

My guess is that, if Khaine could be reassembled just by putting his pieces back together the Eldar would have done it long ago. So we can probably assume it can't be undone. 2 Avatars is just 2 Avatars. heck, they may have even tried to do this and it didn't work.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

This would be the perfect plot for a series of Eldar novels; reassembling Khaine.

To quote a fictional character... "Let's make this fun!"

I don't think the Eldar want Khaine back together. They despised him before the fall, he was utterly hated

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

All the Eldar codexes...

Off the top of my head, the legend of eldenesh concerns this and that is covered in the Alatioc and Falcon background sections of every codex since 4e

Agreed. Khaine was one of the most powerful gods in the elder pantheon but he was also the one who did the least good for the elder race as a whole, and most of his mythos revolves around him being angry with or hurting either the other gods or their mortal associates.

Not to mention a large part of the reason for the creation of the path system, and especially the "war mask" the Eldar adopt to lock away their experiences training for and fighting wars, is to keep from being consumed by Khaine. He's a necessary evil, a part of the Eldar psyche they prefer to keep in check and unleash only as needed. Reassembling Khaine would be at odds with that.

If Khaine was reassembled wouldn't he have to go Warp-side again? If that is the case then he would very much struggle not to be eaten or shattered again. He's not strong enough to face the Ruinous Powers directly.

Yeah that makes sense. Insert "now kiss" joke.

Aside from which, being the God of War/Murder et al, Khaine's Avatars would probably just fly into a greater rage on sighting each other. I suspect they would just seek each other out for a particularly berserk confrontation.

After all, that 'other' Avatar is clearly an inferior counterfeit, right?

My two cents.

All valid reasons but this probably the most likely one. Khaine already fought the Ruinous Powers and was shattered for his efforts. It would be pointless to reassemble him even if they could.

And the Angels of Darkness descended on pinions of fire and light... the great and terrible dark angels.
He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

If enough echoes of Khaine survive(after he was devoured by Slaanesh), I would assume that they could be psychically reforged into a new composite warp entity. But such an entity would be helpless before Slaanesh, and would probably just be gulped up again. The only reason his fragments have survived is because they took refuge in the wraithbone of the physical world. Khaine would have to find a way of concealing himself in the warp, Cegorach style, or it would all be meaningless.

I suppose he could continue taking refuge in the wraithbone/physical realm instead, but it would greatly limit his power, and reduce him to only being potent within the immediate geography surrounding whatever craftworld he was on. And I have a sneaky feeling no Craftworld is too keen on becoming the space vessel for a vengeful God known for his violence and atrocities.

Would an excellent plot for a book or story arc though.
