Since April, I've been working on assembling 1500 points of DKoK. I'm not much of a fan of standard IG, they look very blocky and out of proportion to me, but I love the DKoK models.

This is the sum of my work so far is two infantry squads with PCS, a CCS, a squad of Grenadiers and three MG42 (used as HB) teams.

Artillery is in the pipeline as well as perhaps some tanks. Unfortunately due to work I don't get a lot of time to spare on the hobby

There's no fluff really attached here, other than them being the standard DKoK Seige Regiment, engaging the enemy, turning the planet into a muddy hell-hole and beating them into submission with massed artillery and a decade-long war of attrition. I wanted to take a step away from some factions in 40K and go down the road of more functional uniforms and equipment to be used by the men, ie weapons that aren't a silly size, uniforms that would actually camouflage the wearer in his environment. This was brought about by the fact that these are just normal, regular humans. No genetic enhancement, no super strength. If you shoot them, they die. They can't carry equipment that's many magnitudes their size. Just something a little different

Any comments, criticisms, suggestions etc, please leave them here! I'll be making updates as and when I can

I'm surprised how well those WWII German weapons work with the DKK models. What scale are they? 1/35?

Great natural mud splattered stuff, BTW. Looks great on the old Death Korps.

Excellent work. Really captures the theme of DKoK.

Those heavy weapons look great, are they representing Heavy Bolters?

Thank you very much for your kind words! Yes, the German weapons are Tamiya 1/35 bits taken from their German MG team kit. Tamiya do loads of similar kits, as do other companies - it's something I want to expand on in the future

Thanks very much! Aye, the heavy weapons are representing Heavy Bolter teams. I plan on using 2cm Flak guns as autocannons and have some Lascannons and Thudd Guns lined up as well

Great work on the bases, and kreigsmen with uniforms to match.

Looking forward to seeing more

I have more! An acquaintance of mine was kind enough to gift me a Shadowsword and a Baneblade as he doesn't use them any more. The Shadowsword was unpainted, so I got to work on that first.

Below are an unpainted nebelwerfer (used as a Thudd-Gun) and the WIP Shadowsword. I apologise for the lower photo quality, I'm at work and don't have access to a good camera. Enjoy!

So I finally got home on Christmas leave, and got straight to work. The Leman Russ Vanquisher is complete!

That Vanquisher is gorgeous! Really nice work.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

You a UK Serviceman by any chance? I noticed the Royal Navy headdress in the photo with the Thuddgun. If so, thank you Sir for your service. You do us proud.
Great work on the bases. The effort you've made to recreate the wet mud is fantastic. Great stuff!

Thank you both for your kind words! I don't often get the chance to work on these guys, so must make the most of it while I can!

Great use of the 88mm gun on the Vanqusiher. Any more conversions in the process?

Thank you!

I have a 1/35 scale German WW1 mortar knocking about, that'll be a Medusa field gun... other stuff is in the pipeline but it's all taking a lot of time and effort (and money!) to track down the right bits.

Sounds good. The mortar idea will be great to see. Kit bashing Forgeworld and 1/35 stuff can be a real financial black hole!

So, I managed to get a little bit done whilst on leave. The first of three Thudd Guns/Heavy Mortar stand ins is done.

Just a small update this time round, I've added a lot to this army recently - another 40+ guardsmen, another Leman Russ, a Destroyer Tank Hunter, a Colossus Bombard, Basilisk, Chimera, some Commissars a Macharius Omega!

Pictures speak a thousand words, so here's a Quartermaster I acquired as well!

The force now stands at around 4000pts in total, with more likely to arrive in the near future

Blimey, it's been a while! In between work and going away to fancy places on holidays, there's not been a lot of time for Warhammer, but I'm back with a vengeance!

This is the Shadowsword I've been working on since... ooh, April-time? Painted it all by hand, took me about a week. As always, I couldn't stand the look of the standard gun that it comes with, so I hacked it off and replaced it with an 8-inch artillery piece in 1/35 scale. Same with the lascannons and the HBs are now sandbag bunkers with MG34s

I wanted to continue the cart-horse sort of look for the tanks, that the crew live in them and the vehicle carries all of their kit as well. As always, comments and criticisms are welcome

I love the thudd gun! Looks nicer than the fw in m opinion. The fw one looks a little less realistic compared t the death korps line.

How did you do the sandbags? are those tamiya accessories? Think I had a kit that looks like those when I was a kid.

Also thumbs up on the Vanquisher.

What are your next models to paint?

Wow! Gorgeous DKK! I'm digging the gritty style, very much in my taste. I would love to have my Renegades defend Vraks against you! Subbed for sure!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

Wonderfully realistic figures. I particularly like this one, it reminds me of a film still.

Thank you very much! I agree, the FW Thudd Guns seem a little on the large side to be practical.

The sandbags are 28mm scale Pegasus Hobbies ones, cost about £8 for a bag of 100

Next up for painting is the Macharius Omega that's been sat on my shelf for... 6 months?

Thank you! It means a lot to me that people are getting the gritty, realistic thing I'm going for

And here's some more ones that haven't been photographed yet! A couple of Commissars that I wanted to make stand out, with a slightly different colour scheme overall and one of the 5 Death Riders got done at roughly the same time
