Subject: The 152nd Death Korps: Painting blog - Pic heavy (Feb 7th Update - Chimeras/Wyvern/Russes)

Hey guys,
This is my blog to document my slow and painful painting battle.
Below are my test minis:
I wanted to go for a classic death Korps feel, but have after much deliberation chose a deeper colour for their coats.
Here is my first chimera. I'd like to nail how to use pigments, as I've done a pretty poor job. I'd like to do some rust on the rivets, similar to the forge world masterclass Krieg Trojans, but need to do some experiments first.
I'm currently in the process of stripping a 25 man strong platoon of kriegers. I've thus far done two soaks of pinesol, with very slow results. Thankfully I've run tests, and the minis details all remain intact. I've since switched to a dettol soak, which has been someone more successful. If anyone has any tips for quickly stripping resin, with products found in Canada (dettol is very expensive here), I'd be very appreciative; im going to be stripping roughly 50 more infantry, 3 leman russes, a macharius battle tank, and some other models so I'm keen to get it down to a science.
Thanks all for having a look - would love some feedback, and appreciate criticism. Hoping to be a part of this community, and share my progress regularly! Look for some upcoming army list posts.
Cheers, -Mtc

It's been a while since I've updated! I've been busy building up my army with my hard earned cash, but I'm happy to say I have a sizeable force built up now.
On the modelling front, I've built 3 new Leman Russ's, 40 more guardsmen, a Wyvern, 2 new Chimeras, and a few special characters, and heavy weapons.
Note the Vulture is from my Elysians, but couldn't resist popping it in there.
Above are my new Death Riders rescued from Ebay. Just finished painting them a couple days ago. Bases need work.
Note the sniper on the bottom left; used elysian sniper bits to modify the lagsgun. Haven't the patience to do highlights on guardsmen until all 60 are painted.
Changed Yarrick's head to an engineer head. Think the head may sit a little too tall however.
Very happy with the secret weapon bases
Punisher turret conversion. Also magnetized the sponsons.
This is pretty much my favourite model in the game.
All done Chimera!
Thanks for having a look! Got to hit the painting now... Slow and purposefully... Also have a number of engineers to build, along with a company command HQ squad, but they will have to wait! Saving their paint jobs until I've peaked.
Cheers!

Small update!
Today has been deemed... Tank Day!
So I've gone back and forth as to a colour scheme for my tanks, and I believe I've settled on this. Was going to go for a Steel Legion Drab came stripe, but deliberated against it. I don't really like to highlight vehicles too much, but I believe this camo color makes details pop in some areas, which is cool.
Note the weathering/detailing has not begun. Intend to make them look quite grimy, after I fix up some areas with the airbrush.
Hope you like them! Would love constructive critique! Don't hold back!

I like the color scheme of the tanks. It looks nice with the color of their uniforms.

Thanks! I'm at this point right now where I really can't go further if I decide. My girlfriend has informed me that one of my the tank's (back right) stripes are "not working".
I've been informed I must change said tank's stripes until she is appeased.
Appreciate the feedback Turnip Master Automatically Appended Next Post: Shading / Decals... got to do some. One more thank to shade, then on to details ...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Okay... Think my tank painting marathon must come to a stop for tonight. Posting my last update. Largely done... Going to add some burnt umber around the rivets monday, and put a few highlights on them thereafter, and then a little bit of corrosion weathering.
I've got some secret weapon weathering powders, but I'm reluctant to use them as I can't seem to get reliable results.
Anyways, heres an update.

You seem keen for criticism of your scheme, but i think that it looks reeally good, especially after you have toned it down and added transfers etc.
i think weathering powders willl really finish them off.
great work!
