Subject: Luna Wolves Army: Use Forgeworld or 40k Models?

Hey mates. Looking to run a Luna Wolves army as I am a fan of there fluff and background before they became the Sons of Horus. Originally, the plan was to use 40k models with Space Wolf bits such as torsos and Shoulder Pads to field the Army, however a few of mates are suggesting that I use 30k Horus Heresy Models instead as it would look a lot better. Each have there pros and cons, however I am just curious on other people's thoughts on which they prefer and why, as well as what you think would be a better fit for the Luna Wolves. Appreciate the help mates.

40k marines would be cheaper, and can look pretty good if you put enough effort into painting/kitbashing them. But many people prefer that if you run a 30k army, that you use 30k models. Have you considered picking up the new Betrayal at Calth game? They're 30k models, but for much cheaper than FW prices.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Itll be less expensive than either option you cited.

+1 to the Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth game.
The Marines are in Mk IV power armour of the HH and they're unmarked; no Ultramarine or Word Bearer insignias. They're really ideal and the best deal I think.

Another +1 for Betrayal at Calth: The 40k plastics - Space Wolves included - are almost entirely composed of power armour marks that didn't go into production until after the Horus Heresy had erupted, which was several years after the Luna Wolves became the Sons of Horus.
We know from Horus Rising however that the Luna Wolves had re-equipped with MkIV before they became the Sons of Horus, which is what you get in Betrayal at Calth (as it's set at the outset of the Horus Heresy, so the forces were still using their late-Crusade equipment).
