So I am in a living situation where I don't really have an easily accessible outdoor area to spray paint, and I don't have a garage or anything like that. So I was wondering if it is alright to prime models with just a base black GW paint rather than a priming spray. Other than the obvious annoyance of having to hand prime models, is there any reason I should not do this? Thanks!

Well that's good! I was thinking about priming on the sprue to make it easier to prime all the details. If I do this should I still use plastic glue when assembling or just super glue?

Sorry for the silly questions. Just trying to save myself a headache :(

You can use plastic glue if you scrape the paint off the surfaces you will be gluing together.

If you do decide to brush on your base coats, check out this article on Priming with acrylic gesso. Nowadays, that's all I use for basecoating.

GW and Vallejo also make brush on primers, generally they stick better than base paints, meaning the models would be more durable.

Priming on the sprue isn't something I'd do, personally, as you're going to have a hard time getting the mold lines.

Just assemble them, then brush on the primer - you can thin the primers down a little to get the deep recesses if you need

Wow, first time I read about that. Might have to try it, because spray priming is a hassle with my current living situation (3rd floor, only skylights). Thanks!

It looks like I'll be giving Gesso a try, too. Thanks for the link.
