Hey guys,

Do we know how populated the Halo Stars and Cygnus Arm Star Region is in terms of Imperial Worlds?

I found the following link:

https://unequivocalhorizon.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/liberastartesstarmapver2.png

This is the most detailed map I could find in terms of Imperial Worlds. Would people consider this map to be a fairly accurate?

Because I'm trying to figure out where in the galaxy an Imperial World or System could be relatively isolated without me having to write some over-stretched fluff about why they were overlooked (persistent Warp storm or something cliched like that haha). Also, in light of this: What area(s) of the galaxy do you think could facilitate an isolated planet or system?

Cheers guys

The halo stars...

Yes I know of a good map with some of them the area is and many of us know that area quite well it is called the Koronus expanse and it is the area the rogue trader RPG is staged in. It is next to the Calixis Sector where Dark herecy is played out. ( you might want to take a look into the rogue trader books). Note the Koronus expanse is outside the imperium and mostly filled with pirates, smugglers, rogue traders heretics, xenos and Drususian cultist

Here is a combined map ( the koronus is left, the Calixis sector is right. )

All maps I could find contradict themselves to some extent, as there were no official map of the least known worlds.
Basically it's up to you.

Halo Stars/Cygnus Arm seems isolated enough, although Cygnus Arm inhabitants would have issues with Alaitoc (according to some map, but maps aren't reliable concerning Craftworlds positions).

EDIT : And Holy Terra seems misplaced on your map.

oldzoggy:

Cheers; and I'll definitely have to look into those books. To be honest I didn't know there was much information provided for such areas of space, so definitely worth my time to read

From the Warhammer 40K Wikia:

As is true of the Calixis Sector itself, the Expanse was untouched by the God-Emperor’s Great Crusade many millennia ago -- and so it is a realm of fearsome xenos, treasures beyond imagining, heathen worlds of men, and the echoes of ancient doom.

I would have to do more reading to be sure, but that sounds to me the Imperium has a limited presence to say the least, which may work to my advantage for what I have in mind. So hopefully the books and other further reading will help me craft my own stories and lore around the area.

@LethalShade:

I've found the positioning of Holy Terra to be in roughly that spot in most maps (IIRC: that position doesn't correspond with Earth's current location as we know it, but most people just assume that's where it is for the purposes of W40K). Another map (which seems to be a generally well-regarded map) is:

It's not quite as detailed as the one in my original post, and definitely doesn't show as many Imperial worlds, but it places Holy Terra in about the same spot. Also, as you can see on the above map, the Alaitoc Craftworld is place in the Centaurus Arm, but in this case I think it comes down to a combination of the Craftworld positions being estimated but ultimately unknown (for the most part, anyway).

As I said, most locations aren't set in stone, as most of the 40k canon is anyway.
