I've been thinking about Word Bearers and their access to Tainted Weapons. At first , I thought it would be a bad idea to invest in them over something lik a Power Fist, but thinking more about it, for the price of a Power Fist on a Tac Sarge you can have option to attack vehicles with a Metla Bomb, and MCs, HAs, and multi-wound models with the Instant Death-tainted weapon...which seems like a pretty legit bag of tricks for a Sarge to me.

Do any Word Bearers players incorporate Tainted Weapons into their army, and, if so, how do you use them?

I play word bearers, and for a while I was completely against the tainted weapon. When all you face is marines, power swords and fists win out every time.

However, if I know that I'm going to be seeing big units of ogryns/spawn from the imperial army lists, or xenos players using multi-wound gribblies without much armour, then the tainted weapons see the field.

If you're writing a TAC list for heresy era gameplay, leave the tainted weapons at home.

Why must I always choose beween certain death and probable death.

In my meta, we mix 30k armies and 40k armies pretty regularly, so I wouldn't just be facing marine armies, but really any 30k or 40k army anyone might show up to play with.

Maybe it'd be worth it to model a couple Sarge options with and without tainted weapons for options.

In which case, a couple of optional tainted weapons couldn't hurt. You just need to use them to target the right kind of squad.

Earth

Always take the tainted wealon on the gal vorbak sarge, 10pts for a id rending weapon is a steal, other than that I agree, not really worth it most of the time.
