Okay, I have a question:
In the Imperial Amour Book 2 Volume 2 under the Baneblade entry it states the following:
Options:
-May replace two side sponsons with armour plates to ncrease side armour to 14 - free

-Take two additional sponsons, each armed with a Lascannon and twin Heavy Bolter - 100 points

Am I right in believing that I can drop the initial pair of sponsons to gain side AV 14 and then pay 100 points to add on a set of sponsons, essentially giving me a stock Baneblade with armour 14/14/12?

If you drop the standard set you cannot take 2 "additional".

So it is either: base cost witj av 14, or +100pts for 4 total sponsons.

Although for the points I would let you in a game(HIWPI)

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

KK, if one were to ascribe to can take upgrades in any order philosophy, you could purchase two additional sponsons and then upgrade side armour.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Good to know, thanks. It does irk me somewhat as RAW you can have a 600 point 14/14/12 Baneblade with a single set of sponsons.
Tis a pity that they never FAQ things

OK, now that I've seen the book I can answer this.

A baneblade may take one of the following:
-May replace two side sponsons with armour plates to ncrease side armour to 14 - free
-Take two additional sponsons, each armed with a Lascannon and twin Heavy Bolter - 100 points

So the book specifically limits you to 1 option.

Uhm. Isn't Escalation the most up-to-date source for the Baneblade? And that one does not have the option to take armour plates anymore.

Well, technically you have a choice of both, the Escalation is the most recent supplement from GW but the IA volume is the most recent publication of its kind. And quite frankly the Baneblade was already overpriced in IA, that GW chose to nerf it and remove its basic options was just insult to injury.

True; and, as I said, I would never have a problem with it(even just a shorthand of "I am paying 100pts for 14av"
