My stockings tend to be filled with things like gum or Twizzlers. I'd love to have a $50 Archaon box sticking out of my oversized socks. Why stop there? How about the Fortress of Grim Corruption in their Ultimate Gifts section? Only $1,120.

I never quite get the stocking fillers. You'd think they would be on sale, but no, they aren't. They never are.
And you'd have to have really big stockings to get most of those boxes to fit.
I wouldn't be surprised if the various undead were next for a book; they've got more attention than the others so far.

I don't understand how GW chooses what classes as a 'good gift'. Probably the most expensive stuff.
I also challenge anyone to find a stocking large enough to fit a fortress of grim corruption.

"Stocking not big enough? Buy the Stocking of Eternal Suffering for just 89.95, and the Skull Throne topper for 59.95."

Whenever Christmas comes around and the 'great gift idea' stickers come out at my local GW they are always slapped on the $100+ items. That seems to be the deciding factor, doesn't matter what it is if it over $100 it gets a sticker, nothing under gets one.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |
