Could someone help me with a few questions regarding 'Ard coat:
1) If I put 'Ard Coat on a model, is it possible to paint over it later? Or would I have to strip the 'Ard Coat first?
2) Is there any way to make it not quite as shiny?

I've never had a problem applying paint over something with 'Ard Coat applied to it, though granted, I've never really tried to fully paint over said surfaces (Usually use it on gems and what-not to give them an extra shine, and have touched up around the edge of a gem where I bobbled with the paint brush and didn't notice till after the 'Ard Coat was applied).
As for the not quite so shiny, you could try and use a matte or flat varnish over the top of it after it dries, be it a brush on, or spray. Never tried it but I imagine it would help knock down the gloss sheen quite a bit.
Hope that helps. Take it easy for now.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed. |

I use 'ard coat for transfers. You coat the surface in ard coat first so the transfer has a smooth area to sit on. Afterwards you use Lahmein Medium to take away the shine, a coat of lahmein medium will dull the gloss.
You can paint over the top of it no problems :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-) |

Yup, what Bottle said
You can also get Vallejo Satin varnish. it's not as glossy as 'ard coat (their gloss is...), it's available in larger bottles if that matters, and paints on nicely with a brush.
