So in a normal unit of Ravenwing bikes if I have an attack bike does it only split off if I combat squad the whole unit now? In the old book it said they split off on deployment but I don't see a similar rule in the new book.

Codex is pretty clear on Combat Squads. 8 bikes plus 1 attack bike is a full squad, split into 5 bikes and 3 bikes + attack bike.

"Note that Ravenwing Bike Squads count as being at full strength when they include seven models. If split into combat squads, this unit will divide into three units: two units of three models and a single Ravenwing Attack Bike."

It looks that you can combat squad them only if it has 7 models (6 bikes + 1 attack bike) and then they form 3 new units. No other split options allowed.

Yes, you are no longer forced to split off the Attack Bike like the previous codex, now it only happens if you combat squad the unit. This is one of my favourite changes for this codex.

If you need a solo attack bike, we now have attack bike squadrons.

I am so happy they changed that, and usually when I am happy about a change I read it wrong. Thanks for clarifying though, that is an amazing change to not just give away an easy unit kill.
