I was playing a game with my friend. I charged canoptek scarabs at a building in hopes to eat it. He then told me I needed 3's to hit it. This confused me, as I assume buildings have no weapon skill and are therefore automatically hit.
Was I right to assume this? Does one auto-hit buildings when using melee, or do I need to roll as if it has minimal WS?

You were correct. You automatically hit building in close combat

Crownaxe is correct. Vehicles are hit on 3+ unless they are immobilized, in which case they are also hit automatically.
