Subject: Tyranids vs Necrons, building a new army

So, I'm planning to start up another army and am trying to decide between Necrons and Tyranids. I thought that I had decided on Necrons, but now rumors have surfaced of a new Tyranid codex in January. I was expecting a new Tyranid codex soon, but not that soon. I thought for sure CSM would have there's next. Anyway, I know Necrons are pretty diverse and powerful right now, and the current Tyranid codex is very limited. My question is, would it be worth building a Tyranid army in anticipation for the new codex, or do you think a Necron army to be the better option.
Based on the Tau and SM releases, I'd expect the Tyranid release to be pretty freakin awesome.

I would honestly probably say Necrons still. They won't get another update for a while so you'd be relatively secure in building a force of whatever you like. With Nids and their recent track record of getting nerfed in new books you don't quite know what'll change. If you really want to do Nids then I'd recommend waiting and seeing if a new book actually does drop.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Tyranids are fun but expect a lot of things that are amazing to get nerfed hard. Tyranids rarely get an amazing codex, usually you can hope for just not terrible and not needing to flyrant spam.

It is never worth it to choose what MIGHT be. For all we know, it could be the same codex with the Leviathan stuff added into one book. It could be a further butchering of our few good units and no change to the bad and outdated ones. We just don't know. Stick with what you know you'll enjoy.
