Putting together a painting studio had been a dream of mine for years. Now that live by myself (unfortunately it's only a 1-bedroom apartment) and have a job that pays decently, I finally put myself together a room over the last few months. Here's a view into it.
Here's a picture from before the latest round of upgrades:
Much cleaner now with more efficient paint storage systems (these are nail polish racks, link at the end on how they were done):
On the side of the desk is the airbrush booth and material storage.
Game table and display cases. I tried asking my local
GW manager where they got their tables from that the Realm of Battle tiles inserted into but he didn't know so I had GBS Woodworking in Austin make a custom one for me. At $450, it perfectly fits the Realm of Battle tiles and also has inserts for me to convert it to a regular table for board games or for dining (downside of living in a one bedroom apartment means that there is nowhere for guests to eat if I have a studio). One day I will play a game on it...
The other displays. I might swap this for 2 more glass cabines.
To take up the vertical space, I added the game boxes behind the miniatures. Cosplayer Nurse Baemax for scale.
Close up. Top shelf is for single miniatures or small sets and the bottom are for my big 1:48 scale Gundams.
Finally, the computer set up and photography booth. I play Korean/Japanese music at some clubs as a night job which explains all the posters.
I'm going to have to get a little more creative since I am out of space to display painted models. I have maybe a hundred figures in boxes that are painted with nowhere to go. Link to my blog that goes into more depth about how the paint station was put together:
