Greetings , we are debating changing the format for our next event to a straight up ITC event. Before confirming a date and format I would like to get an idea of what the local players prefer? Guys please only post if you're thinking of attending. As I would like the event to reflect the way people attending would prefer to play. For me personally I prefer a very toned down event (like we've been running). However a lot of the guys have been saying they would like to open it up.
What do you think?

I think an ITC event would be good. I mean, I'll go to whatever haha but I think that if you're going to do a tournament, then you should try to open it up as much as possible. I don't think that the ITC format is broken (might you modify it slightly? sure). It's a good starting point and I don't think that much needs to be changed, if anything, to have an easy event that a lot of people like going to.

Generally-speaking, I think that the people who object to this format are more casual players. While it's nice to be able to come out for a day and play and have a good time, that's not really what a tournament should cater to. Those people should only run up against a tough list once (at most) and then play each other if the matchmaking is done correctly, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

I feel like the casual people feel like they should be able to win any given tournament event, even though other people will certainly be bringing better lists. While this is possible, it's not something that you can realistically expect. Unless you just are that good.

Good points Luke , I think you are right that they might see a tough list only once out of three rounds. So they should be fine with the pairings. The guys have been itching to open it up. I'd like to get some play test games in with the ITC format. You know of anyone ......!

What list won your last tournament with the ITC format? For the next one in all likeliness we`ll be switching to ITC.

Eldar CAD with Harlequin Hero Formation won our last tournament. We had a wide variety of lists in attendance.

How did the other lists do? This past tournament Leviathan. Nids won with marines coming in 2nd & 3rd. For the most part the games all played out pretty close which is a good thing. In ITC so far have the games been close?

The "imperial guard" was actually forgeworld renegades. ITC missions are pretty good. Of course, there are suggestions to change them and all, but we seem to enjoy them quite a lot.

Their FAQ / comp works well I find.

Sunday's are no problem for you guys? That's the only day we can run tournaments at the store. We now have some of the guys from. Maplewood and Toy Wiz coming now. Be great to have the TOGIT guys as well.

Unrelated to ITC, can we talk about maybe reducing the size of games to 1500. I don't think I have finished a single game at either event I attended. With larger armies like Nids, IG, or Orks it is even harder to get through with all the units you have to activate.

Were you at this last one? My games were all over pretty quick. Don't be shy to remind people to hurry up as the game goes on. What army did you use? I think for the most part everyone got their games off. But I think you are right about addressing the time. Maybe 15 min more a round might help. Also I'm tryng to copy straight off ITC and they seem to use 1850.

Yes I was using Space Marines. Infantry heavy armies struggle more with this. The other nid player said the same thing, he feels a bit restricted by his army because there are just too many models to move. I wouldn't want to us my IG again either for the same reason.
