I am facing a new opponent who has decided on Necrons. He likes the Decurion Detachment and Destroyer Cult, which as most of you know is pretty annoying. I'm expecting to face Warriors, Destroyers, a Necron Lord with a CCB or Ghost Ark, and maybe Deathmarks. I don't want to list tailor against him too much because he's a relatively new player, so I've been thinking hard on a list that can bring the pain, but is still relatively balanced. Here's what I've come up with at 1000 points:
Original List:
Spoiler:
CAD HQ:
Warboss (MA, DLS, BP)
Painboy
Troops:
12 x Slugga Boyz (PKBP Nob, free Shoota, Trukk)
12 x Slugga Boyz (PKBP Nob, free Shoota, Trukk)
Elites:
3 x Meganobs (Trukk)
Fast Attack:
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
Heavy Support:
5 x Lobbas (3 Ammo Runts)
3 x KMK's (3 Ammo Runts)
7 x Lootas
=1000 points
Revised List 1:
Spoiler:
CAD HQ:
Warboss (MA, DLS, BP)
Painboy
Troops:
12 x Slugga Boyz (PKBP Nob, free Shoota, Trukk)
12 x Slugga Boyz (PKBP Nob, free Shoota, Trukk)
Elites:
3 x Meganobs (Trukk)
Fast Attack:
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
Heavy Support:
5 x Lobbas (5 Ammo Runts)
3 x Kannons (3 Ammo Runts)
9 x Lootas
=998 points
Lobbas, Lootas, and KMK's will soften up the Necron Warriors and Destroyers. MAWB and Painboy ride with the MANZ, destroy units as needed. Boyz and Deffkoptas will capture objectives and assist in CC.
If we expand up to 1250 or 1500, I think I would take:
Tankbustas
Rams for the Trukks
More Lootas
More MANZ, Boyz, etc.
Revised List 2 (final): CAD HQ:
Warboss (MA, DLS, BP)
Fast Attack:
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
1 x Deffkopta (TL Rokkits)
Heavy Support:
5 x Lobbas (3 Ammo Runts)
3 x KMK's (3 Ammo Runts, 6 extra Krew)
=1000 points
Lobbas and KMK's will soften up troops. MAWB rides with Boyz, flanked by the other Trukk Boyz. MANZ will krump units with glee. Deffkoptas will assist with dakka, Overwatch/CC and capture objectives.
Expanding up to 1250, I would take:
5 x Lootas
9 x Tankbustas (Nob, BP, 2 BS, Trukk, Ram)
1 more Ammo Runt (for the Lobbas)
Comments and suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

for 1000pts you can barely get the decurion and d-cult in. Pretty much no upgrades. no room for other auxiliary formations. Everything is pretty bare bones.
Take a lot of boys in a CAD and play the objectives. You'll have objective secured. You need lots of AP3 and AP4 to negate armor saves so that you only have to deal with 4+ Reanimation.
As Naaris Stated, go for the objectives.
Necrons are tough, after all, and you won't be wiping them.
Another strategy (depending on your available models), would be to tarpit him. With his very few units, little-to no AP in melee, you Orks stand a big chance of winning I CC, and in the process, protecting themselves from shooter harm.
Seeing as you can grab objectives with everything, just have the Trukk's deliver their green sponge load and drive onwards to take any objectives.
Also, Lootas! Bring them in bunches, i haven't had a single game, where i didn't fear those fellas. BS 2? all right, but D3 Autocannon shots (and modelwise very cheap), is really nice. (Just pray to the emp... I mean Mork that you won't be rolling 1's for shots)

Check out my Rogue Trader Story:

Sounds good to me, Cikkirock! You're right, Necrons aren't great in CC. Overwhelming them with Boyz is one way to go. The real problem with them is they have that darn RP, and high Ld, which makes it very difficult for them to fail an Ld check. So I basically need to completely destroy any unit I engage in CC.
I might just take regular Kannons instead of KMK's. Cheaper, but only AP3 instead of AP2. But with the points balance I could take more Lootas, or something else (more Boyz, etc).
Like I said, he's a pretty new player, so I don't want to be too mean. I think this is a pretty balanced list. Once he's more comfortable with his army, I might dial it up. For instance: Ork Horde + CAD. 3 x Warbosses, 3 x Trukk Boyz, 2 x units of Grots, and MANZ+MAWB+Painboy in a Trukk. That just barely fits into 1000 points. Warboss PK overload; hilarity ensues! At 1500, I could bring even more fun stuff like Lootas, Deffkoptas, etc. Just some ideas.
I decided to swap out the KMK's for Kannons to save 36 points. They're still Str8 AP3 which is pretty decent.
I added 2 more Lootas, for a total of 9, which means he has to kill 3 to force an Ld check instead of 2.
Added 2 more ammo runts to the Lobbas because I had leftover points.
Not too shabby.

The way you've got this list setup the Warboss and painboy have to ride with the Meganobs. This is a big mistake. A Manz missile is powerful enough and doesn't need any special characters, and a DLS Warboss and Painboy can turn an ordinary Ork unit into something special.
This is how I generally run a MANZ missile
3 Meganobz (1 Killsaws, 1 Komb-Skorcha) in a Turkk (Ram) It makes them a bit more flexible. Its a great unit.
To give your warboss and painboy somewhere to ride, I suggest you drop 2 boyz from one of your Trukks.
This is a problem. Lootas are only Leadership 7 with a 6+, and mob rule won't help them out. A unit this big is going to be high enough on the target priority list that is going to get hit, and probably run. Personally I think they are far from Ideal against Necrons anyways. More squads of boyz would be better.
If you do like Lootas, and want to run them, you can do so in units of 5 much more effectively. If you drop the Kannons you can do 2 units of 5 Lootas.
If you are open to dropping the lootas entirely, more squads of Trukk Boyz would really, really help you out against Necrons. It is too easy to stop 2-3 trukks. If you had a couple more it would help you close the distance much better.
I haven't played against orks since 3rd sadly. Do meganobz only get 2+ or do they still have option for cyborg body mega armor? 2+/5++? Either way the destroyer lord and lord on foot will be a headache once you reach CC. In 1000 points, maybe footslog as many orks as possible with Lootas instead of koptas? Destroyers are tougher to kill than people think, and the destroyer lord can solo low model Ork units over a few rounds with lucky rolls.
Chaos daemons 1850
Chaos Marines 1850
2250+
2500++ (Wraithwing)
I moved so starting from scratch. These were the armies I had, rebuilding my Chaos.

I hear what you're saying about putting the Warboss in the MANZ Trukk. If I wanted to put him in with the Boyz, I would need to cut the unit down to 10, because Mega Armor counts as two models. I could just give him 'eavy armor, and then include the Painboy. Another option would be to keep the MA, and stick the Painboy in another Boyz Trukk. This would balance out the threat presented by these units to some extent. After they unload, I could always move the Painboy over to the WB's unit. Tough call.
Along those same lines, yes I agree that the 9 Lootas are a larger threat than 3 Kannons. It would be good to at least balance them out at a minimum. I like both units; Kannons are Str 8 AP3 , which doubles out Necron Warriors and negate their armor save, but Lootas have better range, respectable Str 7 AP4, with potentially lots of shots. I might go down to a minimum unit of 5 Lootas.
If I drop 4 Lootas, and 3 boyz, that brings me down to 926. If I drop the BP and PK off the Nob in the Trukk with the Warboss, and give the Nob a Big Choppa, that gives me 901. Enough room for a small unit of footslogging Boyz with a Nob, but not quite enough room for a unit of Trukk Boyz with a Nob. Another option would be to add a min unit of Tankbustas and a Trukk. That would give me a little more punch if he brings a Ghost Ark, etc., and more Str 8 if needed.

No, they used to be able to take Cybork bodies, but the new codex (2014), the Cybork body upgrade just gives the model a FNP 6+ save.
