Subject: I want to start 30k: What to buy and where to start??

I would like to start 30k as Word Bearers with a Daemons contingency. Problem is that I have no idea which books to buy and where to find the general and Word Bearers specific rules.
Do I need to do anything specific in order to bring some Daemon Allies with my force?
I have a Fire Raptor gunship already painted in a Word Bearers scheme. Does it have rules in 30k as of yet?
Do Chaos Knight Titans have rules in 30k yet?
Should I wait for a more mainstream release rather than jump the gun with FW?
Thanks for your input!

To start with you should pick up Tempest. its book 5, and has the updated rules for the Bearers and also the Legion Crusade red book which has the vanilla legion units.
As far as characters, pick up Lorgar and the Erebus-Kor Phaeron set and that will get you access to daemons.
Also pick up some Gal Vorbak.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Titans are titans, the Bearers are the only legion so far to show any kind of serious warp mutation. Automatically Appended Next Post: Two of the Betrayal at Calth box sets with what I already mentioned would be an awesome start.

Ok thanks! I wasn't sure which book they were in. Lorgar at lvl 3 seems pretty nasty.

He was a beast before they adjusted him in book five, he had invisibility before that.

Q: Do I need to do anything specific in order to bring some Daemon Allies with my force?
A: Erebus, Kor Phaeron, or the new dude with the Bladslaves. Or you can use a a specific Rite of War (think formation) that includes a Centurion with the Diabolist Consul upgrade.
Q: I have a Fire Raptor gunship already painted in a Word Bearers scheme. Does it have rules in 30k as of yet?
A: Yup. Rules are in the red Crusade Army List book.
Q: Do Chaos Knight Titans have rules in 30k yet?
A: Don;t think so. But you have access to ally with a Knight detachment, or play Knights.
Q: Should I wait for a more mainstream release rather than jump the gun with FW?
A: It primarily depends on your interest, and if you have people to play with.
By the way, I'm doing up a Word Bearers army too. The Chaplain from the BaC box is totally equipped like Erebus. I just put a different head on him from a Chaos sprue, instant Erebus. My Kor Phaeron is a Chaos Terminator Lord/Sorcerer with lightning claws another different head, instant Kor Phaeron. And my Diabolist is a WHFB model I think. Point is, expensive purchases for FW models aren't' necessary if you like to kitbash, and IMO Word Bearers are a good army for kitbashing. It helps to have extra bits laying around from other army projects, especially CSM for Word Bearers.
I'll add that the chaos pieces from the Dark Vengeance kit seem prime for a Word Bearers army. The Helbrute could be a Mhara Gal Contemptor. Just cut his multi-melta off and replace with a cannon piece. The Chaos Lord, Aspiring Champion, and Chosen models are what I'm thinking about using for my Gal Vorbak squad, chopped up and rearmed to meet the squads wargear, and mounted on terminator bases.

Don't go cheap, Erebus, the mhara gal and Gal Vorbak are some of the most amazing models out there.
Pick up Betrayal at Calth, and then spend the extra money you won't regret it.

The Mhara Gal really isn't much to write home about, IMO, but to each his own. I think the Dark Vengeance Helbrute is the cooler model, there is no accounting for taste in these thing, but for thrifty players the DV Helbtrute is a much cheaper option worth mentioning. I do think the Gal Vorbak models are awesome. As a general statement, I think most FW stuff is awesome. However, the Gal Vorbak models aren't quite wysiwig so much without modification, unless you want a gakky squad. You're going to have to chop that resin up. I was just mentioning that the Chaos models are also awesome sculpts that are chaosy-daemony-lookin, and you can have them quite cheap.
One of my biggest problem with FW's fancier, pricier models is they have zero options, which is important for wysiwig players like me who want to wysiwig every last bit of wargear and like to spend money on boxes with lots of extras.
They are also made of resin, and I prefer plastics personally. The resin is good quality, but its still resin.

The hellbrute is an ok model, but it is very static and far to mutated for the period. The best thing about the Gal Vorbak and Mhara Gal is that they look enough like their non mutated brethren.
I have seen plastic 30k armies and the standard csm would work maybe for the Word Bearers, but no other legion.

?? These dudes are jacked up with kos. More to the point I was making, where are their bolters? Where are the flamers, plasma, guns, and melta guns? How is the artificier armor of the sarge differentiated from the power armor? Where is the melta bomb (if you want one)?
But they are purty sweet....
