I want to make a very elite low-model count, heavily converted kill team force for Space Marines.

I don't know the first thing about Space Marines but I know I want a multi-purpose list that does both Shooting and Close Combat fairly well. I'm thinking a command squad and a dreadnought to spice things up. Remember this isn't super competitive, but I want my oponent to feel it.

Thoughts?

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

What points level are you talking about? Are you talking standard 40K, the old Kill Team rules, or the HoR Kill Team set?

thechosen1 has a point. If you're playing the recent official GW Kill Team rules you can't actually bring a dreadnought since they're over the AV limit of 33.

I had most forgotten. Thanks for not letting me look a pillock showing up with something illegal.

Hm, well, I suppose I could take a Tac Squad (probably only a five man. Most likely with a flamer.) and a group of Veterans (just spend the rest of the points on them, throw in a few Plasma Guns and Flamers, maybe a power weapon or two). Also, does anyone have any experience with Bikes in Kill Team?

Bikes of any kind are generally pretty damn strong in Kill Team. For SM, since you can't have anything better than a 2+ save anyways, you get the best armour available and the T5 goes a long way to mitigate small arms fire. The jink save makes them even better since it handles anything that does manage to get through your armour. Like with the rest of 40K, mobility is extremely important, especially in KT missions.

I would suggest a mix of bikes and sternguard/vanguard veterans, depending whether or not you want choppy or more shooty. I might edge towards the vanguard vets given their cheap as chips PW and jump packs make them super scary in KT.
