Hey guys so having decided to go back the mono Nurgle route for my csm I have picked up IA 13. Now I would like to build a nurgle renegades force along side them. I plan to use my cultists as the base guys for this army however can anyone give me any idea how renegades and Heretics play?

Well, they are really best run as the CAD with your arch demagogue being your Warlord, that way they have way better abilities.

As for playing the buggers:
If you take a Bloody Handed Reaver as your demagogue devotion you can make them much like Imperial Guard.
If you take a Heretek Magus you can make a super survivable force.
The list of devotions goes on and on. Pick one you think will be most usable to you.

They are BS2 base so take of that what you will. (My top tip: BIG A$$ PIE PLATES. 9 Leman Russ Demolishers? Oh, yeah!). You can also take Zombies if you're going the Nurgle route.

Check the 1d4chan tactics page for some good details and recommended strategies.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Three words: Dirt. Cheap. Wyverns. Thaaaat can also be taken in squadrons of five for some reason (why would treacherous scavengers have access to more tanks than the IG?)

Ok, so R&H, as others said, really shine when your HQ is your warlord. It unlocks things like recycling units, fancy units, and zombies that make CSM zombies look like crap.

If you are going full Nurgle, look to Siege of Vraks. Though IA:13 is still awesome. Vraks lets you take 1-3 units of zombies, instead of just 1.

R&H power comes from EVREYTHING being super cheap, as well as having arguably the most awesome heavy support selection in the game. You can take almost every tank IG can, a bundle of artillery, and then there are some other tanks as well. Their Lord of War are also pretty awesome, a mix of CSM, CD, and IG.

So alike CSM, many units can be upgraded to a mark of daemon, each granting a special bonus. They also have random leadership, but can also be pseudo fearless, and have frag and krak grenades. So the blobs can be pretty nasty to deal with. Mine kill dreadnoughts and vehicles pretty often. Everything is BS2, but can become BS3 for a price, usually making them still cheap as sin.

If you go allies, and want tank busting, look at Rapier laser destroyers. Twin linked ordnance lascannons. You want infantry killers, wyverns, leman russ, meduesa artillery, earthshaker cannons? All awesome.

3 earthshakers with a balestar sorcerer with that wonderful ignores cover (if you get lucky) or just divination in the unit, and its goodbye to anything.

Vraks gives you some interesting formations. The Purge, which can be a CSM detachment, Unending host, which is, "when a unit dies, it comes back on a +2 with outflank". However your warlord must be in RH.

There are just so many options and ways to run them... both books have their merits, as you are nurgle that is covered by either book though some would say Vraks has more competitive options and is more Nurgle orientated. As many have said, if you're bringing Renegades then you ought to make them your primary detachment and Warlord Arch Demagogue. Your Chaos Marines can either be allies, a second CAD (though double CAD isn't allowed in some tournaments) or as a Purge detachment (Nurgle and/or unmarked only, no fast attack)
