Subject: Is it harshly looked down upon to have come up with your own Tau paint scheme?

So, I'm considering using my own color scheme for Tau versus any of the Septs. I've seen several YouTube videos where people have done this, but I'm wondering how big of a deal it is. I know people do the same thing with Tyranids as well. Granted, I understand that you can paint any model any color you want to because they are your models. And, while I highly doubt that anyone at my local GW shop would care at all... I'm not sure about my FLGS (if I ever got the chance to play there) or if I went to a tournament with no intention to win but to instead just have fun.
Thanks

No. And if anyone does raise objections, they're a narrow minded numpty.
Look at how GW promote customisation even in their own magazines. Invention and artistic choice is a branch of the hobby. If everything were supposed to look identical and sanctioned schemes, the minis would come pre-painted.

40K is VERY forgiving when it comes to choosing your own colors.
I've heard other systems are not so forgiving - some posts about Warma/Hordes mention that people frown upon using different color schemes.

The studio ones yeh.
Doesn't mean you have to use them. I've actually come across more people look down on using official schemes for things, really even if they do they put their own unique twist on it usually and whatever they like they're the one's painting in for hours.
