I was just wondering what army you guys found to be the most fun army to field? And why exactly?? Do you find it fun to have a plan come together? Or is it more fun to play randomly?? What makes orks and fun random and daemons a frustrating random?

Orks are fun Random because it's mainly offensive power
(SAG, Blitza-Bomma, Mek Guns etc) =
Could feth a Land Raider or do diddly squat.
Even if you do diddly squat, you can try again next turn.

Daemons are frustrating Random because that's mainly Warp Storm Table =
Could give you shooting attacks or remove parts of your army.
If it removes parts of your army, you're just fethed.

Most fun to play is eldar. Highest win rate in almost all editions. Always with multiple good builds and their bad units are sometimes better then other armies good lists.
Most fun to play against is probably IG or DE. At least as long someone doesn't play

Most fun to play is Sisters. Aggressive power and tactics, cheap enough to put plenty boots on the field, and resilient enough to take a few punches on the way in to get to that 5" sweet spot.

Most fun to play as is eldar. I can pick nearly any unit from my codex and it will do well for me, and I can make an army that excels in any phase of the game (CC to a lesser extent, but scorpions are still excellent). Lots of special snowflake rules for moving, shooting, psychic powers and close combat. Each game can be a different way to play if I wish it. Also really like the multicoloured army you can get if you field lots of aspects. Army is relatively small too (or not if I don't want it to be!), so I can take them out and put them away pretty fast.

Most fun to play against are my brother's elysians. Having imperial guardsmen drop from the sky with demo charges is pretty funny and quite a different experience to the more regular guard army I face which will blow you to bits from long range if it can or get torn to shreds up close if it can't. The fights between my crimson hunter and the horde of valkyries/vendettas are funny too.

I find chaos marines fun to play and I find my daemons slightly irritating due to the army having a lack of a shooting phase :p most annoying to face for me are cult mechanicus

I love playing Dark Eldar. Its always a blast, probably because when things do come together, its very in-character to cackle like a super villain.

Playing against Nids is one of my favorites. Those have always been the most fun games for me.

My admech is a blast. I love the idea of these cybernetic beings walking along as everything else is in tanks/is a huge creature yet they simply look at it and it crumbles. It's epic

I'll vote for chaos daemons. Lulzrandom is usually not a problem unless the army list you use is a mix of all the gods which actively demands bad things to happen to you. Usually mono or duo lists are best, the most competitive being Nurgle/tzeentch with a mix of tough-as-nails Nurgle units with tzeentch feeding the Daemon factory that the army is so good at summoning up. The random rewards are easily to plan towards, with the best to work with usually being two greater rewards. Roll at least one defense reward like 3+ or FNP? Good job, now use that other reward for a greater etherblade!

Orks almost never ruin the fun for the other player which in turn makes the game fun for both people. The only time playing as Orks is unfun is when somebody else is playing a relatively OP army or one heavily list tailored to counter Orks.

DE has my favourite playstyle, but the recent book did take a rather large dump on it. This might soon change to Corsairs. Otherwise known as Codex Dark Eldar: Good Version.

In terms of fun armies to play against, Orks, Ad Mech (outside of War Convocation), nids that aren't spamming flyrants.

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

I find my 30k Word Bearers very fun to play. Immensely flexible armybuilding, as well as access to Lorgar and fun daemonic and half-daemonic gribblies.

Orks is my favourite army to fight, because they love melee (just like my guys do) and they are comparatively speaking pretty bad at it (just like my guys are.)

I think my most fun army is Khorne Daemonkin. The Dark Angels are cool, but Daemonkin's playstyle is just fun. And I love the whole Blood Tithe mechanic. If all I cared about was winning, I'd say Dark Angels all the way!

To play against, I'd definitely have to say Orks. They are so random its awesome, and players usually have very cool conversion work in their armies.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Most fun, space wolves. I have always felt close to the space Viking madness, and for me they are just the most fun to picture because of the glory mentality.

Against is nids probably, I love how the models look and I like picturing the games cinematically.

Orks and Daemons are fun. I like my DA, but they just rarely do well.

I enjoy playing almost any army but Necrons and Tau. Necrons are just too tough to kill and Tau just have too much range and bs rules to kill you off the table.

DE forever. I love going fast and pushing models 48" in a single turn.

I grew up always playing ranged cavalry in RTS games or playing chess hyperaggressively (where my Double Muzio bros at), and Dark Eldar are just another part of that trifecta.

I sincerely feel like tactics can be a form of art when you're trying to figure out the way to get your opponent into the position where they're not actually advancing any of their own goals with their moves, and just making all their moves on autopilot as a necessary response to whatever you're doing.

I like playing against most any army that isn't purely based on either assault or shooting. Had a fun game against KDK a while ago, for example, where I was constantly falling back from and outmaneuvering his assault units, while sneaking mine around the flanks to smash up his Skull Cannons. So much more fun than just pushing assault units flat-out into a gunline or slowly falling back from assault hordes. MSU armies are fun to play against where there are a lot of decisions to be made too; not too big on fighting armies with a "centerpiece" Knight or something.
