Subject: Combi-Flamer on Skull Champion?

Just to get this out of the way early, Yes I know khorne berserkers are not good and assault is underwhelming. With that aside, what do you guys think of giving skull champions a combi-flamer? I usually don't take flamers in general just because I rather have a melta in a squad vs anything else. The play style of beserkers encourages getting nice and close though, so I can see it getting some use, and realistically because of the champion of chaos rule, the champ isn't gonna be around for a second charge. So one shot isn't gonna be an issue. That being said, it IS a one shot 10 point flamer because the bolter part is never gonna be getting any use. What do you guys think? Too pricey? Too much of a gamble to actually use? Or a nice little trick that I've overlooked all these years? I'd love to hear your ideas.

"Because we couldn't be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We've all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we've all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher's Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to the heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn't behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Thing is, if you shoot at what you want to assault, then there's a chance you fail the assault. I guess if you're hopping out of a rhino it'd be OK.

Don't 'zerkers come with ccw and bolt pistol by default? If so, the combi will cost you an attack as well.

The zerk champ can take a chain axe for 3 points to preserve his bonus attack.

I didn't really think of that. I tend to run lightning claws on all my champs, So the bonus attacks are few and far between. I just prefer having shred vs an extra attack. Bezerkers have a better WS than ST, so I find that the rerollable wound roll more viable.
