Hello everyone,
The Valkyrie model is quite large and I have seen the Arvus is quite large as well, but with a shorter wing span. Would anyone be able to put them side by side with a top down view so I can see how big their footprint is?
Cheers

My Arvus is elsewhere right now, but it's actually a fairly small model. The wingspan is a bit wider than a Chimera, and the main hull is a bit narrower. It's definitely a lot smaller in footprint than the Valkyrie.

Thanks Peregrine! I would really appreciate it, if you get time, to take a looking down photo of them side by side (Got plenty of Arvus and Valkyrie photos together but at funny angles so its hard to tell their relative size).

Does this one help?

I found that picture as well but wasn't sure if it was a real FW Arvus or simply a conversion, something about the shape looks weird, the engines look too close together and the fuselage looks too stumpy. But maybe it's just because it's such a small picture.

It looks about right.

I'd use pictures of mine, but I modified it to a tandem cockpit and changed the wings and tailfin.
End result, it's wingspan is now closer to a valk than what it was - but I don't use it for 40k, so it's not an issue for me.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Pretty sure that's a conversion using valk engines?
Edit: Less sure having googled it.

Didn't see that angle, that's definitely a conversion from several kits (the wings look to be converted from a drop pod)

The engines don't look like a Valkyrie, not sure what they're from, maybe they're a valkyrie that's missing the front bit. The nose and body looks like either a cut down Valk or a scratch built job.

Here's the original build plug for it. Great blog, worth a read and gawp at the amazing scratchbuilds.

Not a bad conversion, but it does lack something to my eye. The FW Arvus has really nice proportions to my eye, the size of the wings, spacing of the engines, the bulky front end, the conversion doesn't quite capture it for me. I loved the Arvus from the first time I saw it in Aeronautica Imperialis, unfortunately I didn't buy any before they stopped making them

But anyway, that aside, we are still lacking a photo of an Arvus next to a Valkyrie for a size comparison

This Warseer thread has some dimensions....

I would but a lot of my 40k stuff is still packed away elsewhere and inaccessible, including both the Arvus and Valkyrie.

The Arvus is still sold, Skink. You may be thinking of the Aquila.

Nah I meant the Aeronautica Imperialis one, I had half a dozen of the little buggers on my shopping list about a month before Forge World stopped selling them!

This side-by-side photo helps a bit more than the ones where one or the other is in the background.
