Right now I'm using citadel kabalite green to base coat my guys because it like how bright it is, but I'm running into a problem where it's doing a very bad job covering without applying a lot of layers (and thus taking a lot of time). Is there an ideal way to work around this problem? I can't seem to find any base coat paint close to it in color that are within the citadel range. I'd really like some advice on how to work around having to spend as much time base coating, but I'm not sure what to do.

Find the closest base paint and base in that first, to get a good, thin, covering. Now that you're not changing the values too much the thinner layer paint will cover much nicer. So, for your purposes I'd do something along the lines of the following:

Prime: Grey (White will do, but black is a tad too dark if you don't want to be repeating layer after layer)
Base: Waagh Flesh (It's darker than Kabalite Green, but if you water it down it shouldn't be too dark.)
Base/Layer: Kabalite Green (This is what actually makes the colour you want.)

I do something similar with my Emperor's Children and it works like a charm.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!
