Hello all,

When the Ad Mech Skitarii were revealed last year I was beside myself with how gorgeous the kits were. I invested heavily into the army and was even happier when I heard rumors of Cult Mechanicus coming out. That tremendous excitement for the army came to a standstill as the first leaks were released and the Cult Mechanicus units looked (in my opinion) really really off and dissimilar to the sleek Skitarii. I hated the Kataphron, disliked the tech priest, and thought the robots looked goofy. So I contemplated selling the Skitarii kits and picking a different army, but then I took it upon myself to come up with a way to build an Ad Mech force that actually makes sense for me. Hence I started looking at kits within the imperial range that could supplement the Ad Mech kits. This is what I've come up with so far.

Firstly, some finished photos:

This is the start to my post-apocalyptic meets Imperial Guard, meets Ad Mech army. I wanted a more classic Imperial look, and notably human and abhuma soldiers.

You can see more finished photos, read the fluff here if you're interested.: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/671358.page

Here is a full list of all the units in the army, I am still not sure about a few of them and would welcome your ideas/suggestions.

Skitarii Line:

Rangers/Vanguard:
Spoiler:

A head swap, removing the purity selas and nicking the overcoats really gave these guys the post-pocalyptic feel I was looking for. I'm quite happy with these.

These guys are stil a WIP but I wanted to change them to match the ranger style so they got scion heads.

Sicarians:

I still don't have a very good idea about how to have these guys match the theme. What would you guys suggest? So far I'm just thinking of painting them in the scheme as they already have that post-apocalyptic feel to them.

Dragoons:

Here I just wanted to streamline the walker as I thought it weas too busy with the servitor. Here's the simple and effective solution.

Spoiler:

Onager Dunecrawler:

Keeping them as is, of course doing head swaps on the crew and maybe adding some IG style packs/luggage to the tank.

Cult Mechanicus Line:

Kataphron Breachers/Destroyers:

I always disliked this kit so I decided to convert it entirely with the exception of the gun/power system bits. It turned out pretty good with the ogryn kit.

Spoiler:

Kastelan Robots:

I always thought they looked goofy and out of place. I also didn;t like the way the phosphor blaster arms gave them the "mummy pose". This is my best attempt to make the robots more like proper automata with an under-slung auto phosphor cannon and some power cables to fit in better with the rest of the range. The data smith is largely unchanged but gets a human head.

Spoiler:

Electro Priests:

While these guys are not very good in the Codex I will build a few for completion's sake. So far I'm thinking about simple head swaps, but I'd love to hear any ideas you may have about how to make these fit the aesthetic of the rest of the army.

Tech Priest Dominus:

I didn't love the model (although it was a great model for what it was) because it made the priests look more like monsters than powerful knowledgeable inventors. I decided to convert one to look like the latter with the parts from the dominus kit. This is the result:

Spoiler:

So there you have it. If you have questions about any of the conversions I'd be happy to explain them. I'd love to get feedback and ideas about the conversions I have and about the ones that I have not yet converted. (Sicarians, electro priests)

Please let me know what you think! Thank you!

Try not to use red text in your posts.
RED text is a mod thing.

Like the conversions though

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

These guys look amazing really dig the bases as well, your colour font is super hard to read though maybe try a darker colour not red obviously haha

Facts are chains that bind perception and fetter truth. For a man can remake the world if he has a dream and no facts to cloud his mind.

These conversions are pretty cool, but they look, IMHO, a bit too steampunk, specially the techpriest and the rangers. They kinda lack the crazyness of the 40k admech, but from what I understood, that's exactly the point you dislike about the admech. The bits go really well together, although the dragoon looks out of balance without something to fill in the area where the servitor used to be. The robots look cool with the autocannon but I believe the sensor units look better and more familiar on the place where it should have the head. Try to integrate them in a cilindrical shape to tie together with the cilindrical neck. These are just pet peeves, the army is looking really cool in a general sense, specially the ogryn-like model, my favourite of all the bunch, it would totally fit in a mechanized hitech guard army.

Sorry to drag up old post, but how did you do the under-slung weapon on the Kastelan?

Such a big change with just a simple headswap. Im going to have to steal that idea Im afraid... Really good looking stuff!

Headswap might work for the priests but if youvwant more toned down approach on them then maybe some wyrdwane psykers could do the job? Put something on them back, like some backbags with bunch of electronics in it.
