So with the advent of the Blindwalker, the formerly unplayable warlock of the gators now may be actually quite viable - Calaban! Here is the list I have come up with for him, thinking to try it out against Wehrkind in a few weeks:

Calaban (+6)
Wrastler - 9
Blindwalker - 7
Croak Raiders - 8
Croak Raiders - 8
Posse - 9
Sacral Vault - 9
Witch Doc - 3
Pendrake - 2
Feralgeist - 1

The only thing I am torn on is Pendrake + Feralgeist as I have it here, or swapping them out for a Bull Snapper. The Snapper could really buff up the armor of the Blindwalker / Vault, and make them more survivable (particularly since I'll be burning my own Blindwalker to the ground on feat turn by casting spells through him). It would also provide me another source of fury after the Blindwalker's inevitable demise

But because this is my anti-Hordes list in a lot of ways (except Trolls, and plus Cryx) Pendrake could really be invaluable in a lot of matchups! And the Feralgeist provides a nice contesting piece, along with a target to throw my Blindwalker at when I need to extend my spell range

---

Here's the list I plan to pair it with - a bit beefier with 3 heavy beasts and 2 posse, to keep people from just teching against Croak Raiders:

Rask (+6)
Wrastler - 9
Horror - 8
Croak Raiders - 8
Posse - 9
Posse - 9
Wrong Eye & Snapjaw - 9
Witch Doc - 3
Swamp Gobbers - 1

This list is noticeably lacking bog trogs for Rask's "Call to Sacrifice" (which basically makes him invulnerable to assassination until you kill his entire army!). But with the Gobbers he's DEF 17 at range, so hopefully still hard to take out early, and I like the Croaks in the list to provide earlier scenario pressure (and to keep folks from just sitting back when Rask feats and being relatively safe / out of range of charges). If the Croaks don't work out I can swap them and the Gobbers for Shamblers + Snapper.

Thoughts appreciated, and I'll snap some pics when I face Wehrkind's Circle with these soon

I really think the armour buff is necessary on the walker. You'll not want to have to keep occultation on him I imagine (not a gator player here so I may be misunderstanding), as I see it it'd be better on the croaks/posse. So he'll go down/be unable to arc more than 1 or 2 spells without risk so easy that it'll be rough without it.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Once he casts his animus, can't he arc that turn until he's totally dead?

But it is a good point and I may go with the Snapper instead of Pendrake + Feralgeist, to buff up his armor to 22.

Yeah. I more meant they need to do 8 or 9 damage to column 5. 3 black dragon pikemen do that on average. If they do then bam no spirit no animus sad times. With spiny growth they at least need to do a bit more.

Ah, got it. But you can still remove a single point of damage for a fury in your control phase, right? I know there's some way to do this, but need to brush up on the specifics, as it does seem more likely to come up with the Blindwalker since I'll be actively damaging him myself in addition to my opponent

Ah I thought that was during your warlock activation, my bad. I'll double check ha.

"At any time during its activation, this model can spend fury points to heal damage it or a warbeast in its battlegroup in its control area has suffered. For each fury point spent this way, this model heals 1 damage point"

So yeah, if they knock the spirit you just cry for a turn because you aren't channeling. Which seems to be the whole reason you have him ha. So yeah, that's why I think the additional armour will help.

Oh, ouch! Because the Blindwalker needs to activate to cast it's animus to enable channeling, before the warlock if the warlock wants to cast through it... but the warlock has to activate to heal it.

The thing is it will work fine with Calaban because his feat is that he gets a fury and can choose to cast a spell any time you kill a model, so he can cast his spells on the critical turn after healing the Blindwalker . Gator players view this model as released specifically to make Calaban playable lol, it works well for him but pretty much only him!

Ah nice, as I said I don't play minions and I think only 1 guy around here does. And he plays pigs. So my exposure to gators is basically Skorne gators and that's it. So my help was only ever going to be theoretical at best haha

Can't wait to see the pics vs Wehrkind!
