Subject: Any feedback on scout bikes squads ?

Hi there,
I am considering buying a scout bike squad (I love the model !), but for the moment, I rarely use scout (I still don't have a LSS).
But with the combination of speed, firpower and infiltrate, and, if taken in the formation, resistance (stealth give them +1 cover save, so 3+ if they jink) I truly think they can be good, for tank hunting ( with grenades launcher) and horde / support killings.
The main issue is the cost (€€€).
30€ for 3 guys... I plan to use 3 with grenades launchers plus the sergeant.
Moreover, as I play drop pod, they can help with a locator beacon.
So, a lot of utility !
Anyone here used them and would be able to speak ?

I have a squad of three I put on the table from time to time. I like them.
They have a massive toolbox of tricks. Nothing game breaking, just a lot of little features. If you like the look of them, by all means pick up a squad.

How much are they point wise? They could be fun to use, but if they're too pricey, I'd be wary of using them. Side Note, do they get the CTs of Ravenwing or White Scars?

I was looking for about 130 pts for a squad of 4, using ultramarine tactics (because it is what I use for my chapter).
Maybe a gravgun for the sergeant, as he is on a bike (in case if they attack a tank, a sweet 6 can be fun) but the short rane is kinda meh...
And a melta is even more short ranged^^

Use them for their special rules, not their wargear options.
As for 130pts you can field a 3-4bike squad + double grav (I think?!)

Yah, there are more point efficient ways to get firepower into your list. But sometimes you want to rapid fire krack grenades into outflanked rear tank armor, or scout up a beacon, or any other sort of trick the scouts can pull.

Scout Bikes are a fun unit. If your opponent doesn't engage them then they can do a surprising amount of damage. Plus who doesn't like mining buildings?

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

I've once made a 1500 full scout army.
Telion
9 scouts [bolters, cloaks] + sarge [mb, c-melta, cloak], LSS [hf]
9 scouts [bolters] + sarge [mb, c-melta], LSS [ac]
9 scouts [bolters] + sarge [mb, c-melta], LSS [ac]
4 scouts [bp ccw] + sarge [mb, c-melta], 4 [sniper] + 1 [hb+kraken], LSS [mm]
4 scouts [bp ccw] + sarge [mb, c-melta], 4 [sniper] + 1 [hb+kraken], LSS [mm]
4 scouts [bp ccw] + sarge [mb, c-melta], 3 [sniper] + 1 [hb+kraken], LSS [mm]
4 scout bikes [2 agl] + scout bike sarge [mb, c-grav]
4 scout bikes [2 agl] + scout bike sarge [mb, c-grav]
4 scout bikes [2 agl] + scout bike sarge [mb, c-grav]
Everyone's proxied by orks ofc!
I endedup playing against a marine player with:
Calgar
4 tacticals [melta] + sarge [c-melta] + pod
4 tacticals [melta] + sarge [c-melta] + pod
4 scouts [snipers, cloaks] + sarge [sniper, cloaks] with some locator beacons
3 devastator centurions [grav + bolters] + pod
3 devastator centurions [hb + bolters] + pod
3 tfk
I got 1-st turn and it was basically over. Completely swarmed all the objectives except for one with tfk on them. Killed scouts, almost killed the tfk squad - they had some luck with 3+ cover saves + i forgot techpriests got 2 wounds. Could have reserved melta for them. When centurions and marines came in they were blinded by all the LSS and murderised with bolters.
As for the bikes - they did pretty good. Fast presence, some neat s6 - not eldar-level of s6 but still potent. I don't think it's all that essential in a regular list but it was neat in my situation. It's not a useless upgrade by all means - it's just i'm not sure how much more effective it is than a tl-bolter for the price. If you play someone like ultramarins, than agl gets more effective with re-rollable ones. If not, than it might end up about on par with bolters vs infantry. Don't know for sure - needs further playtesting. If you position your scouts more like a vehicle harrasser, than take agl for sure. Combi-grav is golden. Grav weapons are op for this price and rof on relentless platforms - no surprise here.
LSS are really good. This free blinding blast is just crazy good when applied correctly. Especially when there are multiples of them paired with threat overload. If you play scouts, consider trying lss + mellee scouts combo.
Craken rounds are meh. I'd rather save points for extra cloaks next time. I think, a regular heavy bolter is fine for scouts as it meshes well with sniper rifles and bolters.

I run 3 squads as my aux for gladius. With white scars, they are amazing. Otherwise, I like the booty trap on terrain... Can hurt some armies pretty badly on the right board
