So I'm totally new to this hobby, been doing some research I think I'll be buying some stuff tomorrow I've decided on the Scum and Villainy as my faction(primarily) I may get some other stuff, like a K-wing(cards, utility and buffing) but for now I'm gonna grab boba Fett(cuz who doesn't love the Fett man?) the core set, since I need templates and dice etc, and the lovely Most Wanted set, so here goes my first list.
Boba Fett(39) with Marksmanship(3) Greedo(1) and Gunner(5)
Drea Renthal(22) BTLA4 Y-wing title, Unhinged Astromech(1), autoblaster turret(2)
Binayre Pilot(12) with hot shot blaster(3)
Binayre Pilot(12)
I figure the Slave 1 is pretty tough and my opponent will be laying firepower on the headhunters first, so greedo's negative won't come into play as much. The headhunters I'll probably flank with, while I fly Boba and the Ywing into my opponent's teeth. Thoughts? I appreciate any feedback. I think I'm gonna end up getting a K-wing as well, and maybe a rebel Y-wing so I have a bit of variation, run Rebels, Imperials(Imperial boba Fett seems real tricky and cool) or Scum with what I've got. The last thing I'll probably get is a HWK, an ion-spam build with the one Scum character that does damage when someone gets Ioned seems pretty interesting.
EDIT: forgot to ask, should I get the new core set, or the old one? Marksmanship seems solid, but some of the other cards seem good. And the newer x-wing seems strong, much more maneuverable.

I'd recommend getting both the old and new starter. More ships, more dice, more cards.

You've got this backwards. Boba Fett is your only real threat in this list, so he's the priority target.
Also, your y-wing needs work. You're not really getting anything out of Drea's pilot ability (she wants to be a torpedo boat) and the autoblaster turret is too short-ranged to make good use of the A4 title. A cheap generic is what you want if you want an autoblaster turret, and drop the title so you can let your 360* arc make up for the short range.
Marksmanship seems solid
Marksmanship is garbage and should never be used. It's barely better than just taking a focus action on offense, except that "focus" can't be used on defense and costs 3 points and your EPT slot instead of coming free on your action bar. It's really just a balance mistake from the early days of the game, when FFG didn't really understand what was powerful yet.

Lol the guys that I talked to said that too. The new xwings are definitely boss, as are the new TIEs. Why not 2 of the new ones?

Biggs and R2-D2 on the rebel side, generic TIE fighters (which you need at least 3-4 of) on the imperial side.

Ya Idunno if I'm gonna really go Imperial though. I might run boba with some TIEs just to try it out at some point, seems like it could be fun. And I see now why marksmanship is kinda bad. Would massed Ion with Dace Bonearm be decent? I was thinking Ion turrets on a ywing and Dace, Ion cannon on Boba and Conner nets with Extra Munitions. Or do you think Twin Laser Turrets would be better and just take 2 Y-wings? Boba and 2 y-wings with TLT leaves me with 13. What should I take with that? Missiles? Bombs?

You will. One misconception people have about X-Wing is that it's a game where you choose a faction. It isn't. You'll end up buying everything for every faction just to get the upgrade cards, and you'll probably end up playing all three factions.
Would massed Ion with Dace Bonearm be decent?
Not really. You can only use the extra damage ability once per turn, and even then it's usually better to take conventional guns and deal damage the normal way instead of trying to set up an ion combo. Ion weapons are useful control, but the HWK isn't very good.
Or do you think Twin Laser Turrets would be better and just take 2 Y-wings?
TLT y-wings are awesome.
Boba and 2 y-wings with TLT leaves me with 13. What should I take with that? Missiles? Bombs?
What do you already have on Boba Fett in this list?

I see. What about Dace with ion to just snipe fast ships to lay some smack on them, and take away their mobility, Boba with Ion, Greedo, and a seismic charge, and Drea with BTL-A4, a TLT and plasma torpedoes, with an unhinged astromech? I have a feeling this could be strong on her, Target locking twice, and then gaining a third shot not locked seems pretty nasty. Especially when one of those can be a snipe with torpedoes at long range. I'd have 3 pretty decent threats, Boba obviously the biggest but 3 shots a turn on the y-wing is scary too, and my Ion will help lock down stuff that would otherwise mess with my now non-turret Y-wing.
Nothing is on Boba in that build I was asking you what I should put on him. 2x ywing at 18 a piece, 2 TLT, and Boba naked, 13 points left over.

Dace with an ion turret is nice, but is best paired with other ion weapons as well - note that it doesn't have to be Dace's ion weapon which hits the target to trigger his ability!
You can use Drea's ability as much as you like, but the problem is that an individual Twin Laser Turret shot doesn't hit that hard.
One of the nastier ways to use her is to get two "Holy ***!"!"!$" shots out of her and then use her as a disposable block of toughness:
Torpedo (of your choice)
Extra Munitions (for a second shot at a discount)
R4-B11
Autoblaster Turret (For a cheap turret once you've fired off your torps)
Drea moves in, target locks. Uses the lock to fire a torpedo. Regains the lock (Stress), uses the lock to reroll the red dice.
Regains the lock (Stress), uses the lock to reroll the target's green dice.
Acquires a new lock (Stress), has a lock to fire her next torpedo next turn as above.
Granted, you end turn 3 with a pile of stress tokens higher than the ship model, but a stress token is a lot better than being blown into a million pieces, which is what should hopefully have happened to her target.
Boba Fett and 2 TLT Y-wings....
Hmmm.. Well, Fett wants to be up close and personal. I'd consider some cheap one-use upgrades - something Scum do well with - and possibly an autoblaster; he does well up close, why not make him better?
If you think you can keep the y-wings at arm's length, Lone Wolf isn't bad for the Firespray, because it has both good red and green dice, and it can - with a bit of luck - take on a sizeable force by itself (it is half your squad, after all).
One squad which I admit to not having tested much is:
Boba Fett
~ Lone Wolf
~ Autoblaster
~ Glitterstim
~ Countermeasures
Syndicate Thug
~ Twin Laser Turret
~ Unhinged Astromech
Syndicate Thug
~ Twin Laser Turret
~ Unhinged Astromech
The astromechs massively improve the manoeuvrability of those Y-wings, which should help keep your range 1 blind spot clear and hopefully avoid joggling Boba's elbow and shutting down Lone Wolf.
Boba can afford to go "up the centre" - at least for one turn, anyway - because if you pop Glitterstim and Countermeasures at the same time, you've got 3 defence dice, unlimited focus tokens and a one-dice green reroll, and janked someone else's target lock off you into the bargain. That makes you damn near as hard to touch as a tooled-out TIE interceptor but with one of the toughest ships in the game. You can only do this once, of course, but hopefully that should be enough to get you into the midst of your opponent's squad where extra rerolls from Boba's own pilot ability and the fact that he'll struggle to concentrate everyone's fire on you at once should pick up the slack. Meanwhile the TLT's circle round the outside, plinking away at whatever they get shots on.
