So, I have a fair few Model Air paints. All about the same age, all in their dropper bottles, all fine.

However, I'm having constant problems with Oro (Gold) - which seems to dry to a lump if I don't use it for a few months. I'm now on my third bottle, while all my other ones are half used and as fresh and liquid as when they were first bought!

Any ideas?

For me, the gold and copper colored metallic paints dry out more (or start out lumpier) than the silver metallic paints.

Make sure they are really well stirred up, as Vallejo metallic paints separate like crazy. I haven't really used them much, but the new Vallejo Metallic Air paints look pretty good. I am a bit annoyed that the colors aren't quite the same as the colors before (of the same name), though. I wlll have to make up my own swatch, sigh.

Are you talking about 71.066 VMA Gold in the dropper bottle?

I've had the same issue, the silvers are fine but the gold separates and clumps up much more readily. I thought it was a bad batch or something.

I just checked - I bought a big set of Vallejo Game Air a while ago but never really used the metalics much.

The bronze and silver are as good as all the other colors, the gold however has indeed separated and lumped together to a gooey mass.

Yes, exactly. The copper, too. Even on a 0.65mm nozzle, they work like poo. Either I thin them, and then they cover really unevenly/badly, or I don't, and they jam up the nozzle in seconds.

The new Vallejo metallic air (or whatever they're called... The ones in the stubby fat dropper pots) has an okay copper. Ironically, it looks and works almost identical to GW Balthazar Gold Air. Neither is nearly ad good as the silvers for coverage, but at least they aren't goopy thick.

I have tue new gold from Vallejo, but I haven't cracked it open yet.
