Came up over this weekend.

Flying hive tyrant trying to flank my Imperial Knight. We use the ITC FAQ for knight facings.

He ended his movement on a line between the front and side, with 80% of the tyrants base on the knights front facing and 20% on the side.

I couldn't find anything under vehicle facings for this, just for multiple models in a unit in different facings.

In the end I made him shoot my front(big advantage versus S6 obviously...) but it was a point of contention.

Was I right?

If its truly too close to call, you'd fall back to 'The Most important Rule' (General Principles, pg 10).

We agreed he was more on the front facing, significantly, just we disagreed on what that means.

Now that I think about it, I think I should have just let him shoot the side.

You measure LoS from any point on the model's torso/limbs (excluding wings), so... HIWPI : If he can measure from any part of his torso/limbs to your side armor, he can say that's where the shot is "coming from."

No. See 'Vehicles Facing and Armour Values' where it says that where the shot comes from is determined by which 'facing' of the vehicle the firer is in. So even if the firer can see the side facing of the vehicle but the firing model is in the front facing, then the shot is resolved against the front facing. If he's between two facings, use the facing the majority of the firing model is in. If in doubt, see my earlier post.

Where does it say to use the facing the majority of the firing model is in? That's what this is about, after all.

It doesn't. There is no rule covering a single model in two facings so whatever decision will have to be a house rule.

At my desk

I would say that because the majority of the model is in one facing, use the facing that it is most in.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!
