Suppose formations where "upgrades" that you had to pay points for how much should each individual formation cost according to you ?

Formations should vary in cost depending upon the benefits given.

I would be in favor of points costs for Formations, but it would have to vary according to several factors:

1. Opportunity Cost, i.e. what you aren't taking to take the units in the formation. Is this a case of making good units or ones people already took even better, or are sub-optimal units being forced into the composition in order to make them more playable?

2. Type of formation (Standalone, Core/Command/Auxiliary). Not all formations are created equal. If its like Rangers in a Warhost or Deathmarks in a Decurion, I would argue that there should be no points cost for those formations, as they exist only to allow those units to be taken in a Formation Detachment.

3. Number of units and flexibility. How many units can be taken in these formations to gain the benefits, and how flexible are you able to be with the composition of the units in the formation?
