Hey All

My LGS is running an event this weekend. its going to be a 4 way battle 200 points per fleet, ship pure 1 ship can use 70 points the rest are capped at 50. does anyone have any suggestions for builds or strategies for an event like this? i am really stumped on what to bring myself.

as for what i like to play i have been playing Romulan and Federation the most i find but i i do like to play all the factions. i do like to try to get the most attack dice i possibly can to make up for my crappy piloting skills lol i seem to bump a lot and i do notice i tend to use the more hull heavy ships as well.

I would say go with the Federation, simply because you have more flexibility both in building and in actual combat.

i only have one of each ship and no my LGS doesn't like proxy's at all. but the entire fleet doesn't have to be faction pure just each ship has to be.

From the looks of things I would say go Feds or Romulans. Those seems to be what you have the most of. Though 200 points of Borg could be fun

i pretty much just held back as much as i could and after they blew each other up i came in to clean up the pieces. how it worked was there was a two and a half time limit and the person with the most points left on the table at that time would win.

Congrats on the win! Most multiplayer games I've been in end up like that. The one player that holds back usually wins. Unfortunitly, that's never me, as I go straight in, brawling and fighting. What's the Klingon word for kicking butt and taking names? That's a nerd check by the way- don't answer that. I came to play! Not pussyfoot around on the edge of the table. Just messin' with ya. That's a viable strategy, and it worked- you won!

I am with Tamwulf, but the strategy of maneuvering so that the opponents have only each other to shoot at really is a great way to go: I typically maneuver so that my ships end up forming a pincher between them and the third most dangerous opponent, with the biggest threat to me being in the middle. It works wonders.

I love that you guys used multiple planets. The add an extra element to the game that I find lacking in deep space combat: maneuvering becomes important for EVERYONE, not just the guys with fixed firing arcs.

Congrats on the win! The mixed fleet looks pretty cool actually. Replace the borg with something not borg and is a Federation alliance fleet!

My mistake: I thought that the Superlaser emitter on the death star was a planet... but still, planets are awesome.

Yeah i was thinking of taking something else but i wanted the most hull and shields on the ship as possible and was hoping if i did get in the fray of things that the would focus on it and leave my tiny ships alone.

That good sir, is a solid strategy.

The 90 point build I run when I want to win (its not all that creative and is very boring) has a similar factor built into it: USS Enterprise D with Ransom, A Constellation, and 2 Fed Fighters. Ignore my Enterprise, and she will slam you. Ignore the fighters, and you run the risk of being obliterated.

When ever i put Ransom on a ship i always get weird comments like"you run that guy?" i don't get it i think for his cost he is great

He is my most common Named captain at OP events because his cost is great, especially for his ability.
