Hey guys!

In many painting videos you see people putting models on some kind of stick with a sticky end (like green stuff, just white) to paint it and it holds just fine.
What is it called, where do I get it and how often can I use it?

At a guess, what you're seeing is simply a coffee stirrer or pencil and some white/blue-tack. Really, though, any kind of stick will do (most of the time I use either a missile from a toy helicopter or a clip from a self-assembly canvas wardrobe, both just 'feel' right in my hand when I'm painting). You just want to make sure you have a good flat surface to attach the mini to, and that it's not too heavy, and you should be good to go.

Definitely recommend trying it, though, as it does help a lot.

I tend to drill a 0.6mm hole and just shove a cocktail stick in it. Grips better than blu-tack. If necessary I might tack it on with a tiny amount of superglue (and I tend to do that for very small parts that couldn't take the hole).

I use some blue tac and a old GW paint pot with the flat top on it, works great to hole a figure, even a metal one.

Pretty much you can use anything as long as it is comfortable for you to hold and paint your figure.

As far as your questions, its called blue tac (its used to hold posters on a wall without tacks.

I bought a package from a local hobby lobby store, and I've been using the same piece since I bought it two years ago. If it isn't working for me, I take it off and knead it a bit and stick it back on. Will last for a long time.

Try straightening a couple paperclips, drill a small hole into your model's feet. Glue the paperclips into the feet, and then the other ends into a cork.

That's what I do, it works for airbrushing, as well as detailed brushwork. Plus, then you can pin the model into its base once you're done it, so it's extra secure!
