Subject: Creating a Campaign System

I'm creating a Campaign system where each side has a number of armies and each army has a command staff and a pool of units that when you play a game you are limited by what is in your unit pool. At the end of each game losses are calculated and taken out of the pool.
Are there any existing campaign system that have any similar mechanics? I can't really find any. Also any systems for veterans and commander progression?
I'm looking at making it into an app which calculates all the casualties for you and also creating armies for you given what actual units you have, also to manage your entire campaign, later on to include maps to fight over, think along the lines of Total War campaign maps with moving armies, hive cities, space ports and all sort of things to fight over offering campaign benefits

If you have the possibility try to grab a 4th edition BRB. there are some things written about that stuff.

So if i got you right you ave several armies with preset units. whats the purpose of said comand staff in each army?
How many player you want to include? how many games you want to pe played till the campain is over?
AS fas as i know longterm campains are alwas threaten by slowly dying. RL alwas creep into it. stops peole from participating and prevents new ones to get into it.
So my advice. keep it at simple as possible and dont try to set it up for to many games.
I guess you want to play with a map? Depending on what you want you could eighter draw a map and determine teritories. or you make um a map that has a set of key locations that are conected via routes. depending on the planned size both can be fine.

It will be an app you can have on your phone or tablet, that will hopefully get rid of campaign fatigue and make things less difficult to organise and play
It will be for 2+ players, command staff = overall army commander and lieutenants, which you must take at least one of and has a preset warlord trait chosen by the player like special characters. Negative effects for an army if opponent eliminates commanders.
For the map I am thinking a lattice system like in planetside 2

Ah well. The organising stuff is the same if you look at the amount of work. doesn't matter if you do it on a app or some sheets of paper.
So if the comand staff is a always take. do they offer some abilities on field? like rerolling reserves or suhc? what bad effects do you want to create? morale checks? or a loss in points the next game?
i dunno planetside 2. google was no help in quick finding a pic.

Something like that, but having an app would mean everyone can see what's going on all the time and other people can use it.
It would be faction specific, I will probably start with Imperial Guard as they have sort of a standard structure then build off of there, certain commanders have a certain chosen trait and can gain additional traits as the campaign goes on, so I might have a company command squad as my army commander, maybe he is a siege specialist so his trait may grant his army move through cover and also have access to artillery barrages, but also one of his lieutenants, a commissar Lord, might be specialised in outmanouvering his opponents so can give a number of units outflank

I love the idea of a live app, this is perfect for a campaign where people can't all meet up at the same time so we can keep an eye on the campaign as it progresses. If there is someone out there that can produce something like this it would be awesome.

sure. but a working app is a lot of work. If someone has no experience in that stuff creation a app is not the way to have it easy.
Therefor using Dropbox or another cloud and sharing EXEL data and suhc is the easier way. as long as the campain is the main goal

I want to work on it, I can code a bit, haven't attempted an app before but when you know in your head how you are logically going to program it its not that hard and I have friends who are very skilled programmers.
Yeah that's the point of it really. If this was a product on the market, would you pay for it and if so what would you think would be a reasonable price?

So well. i guess if its a good working , visual apealing bunch of work. hm... depends. if i can buch one pack of it and use it on several devices 100 € would be fine. if every one has to buy it on his own... then maybe 10-15€

That's along the lines I was thinking, could even do it for free, having a website might be easier than developing different apps for each operating system
