Finished an Admech force for Whalemusic360! and they are very VERY cool models! tried a few little different things than my normal painting like the plasma glow and the Thallax face plates etc. and it comes together really nicely with the burnished metals and orange spot colour for them, they really are covered in a glut of glorious details which might seem daunting to paint but it seems to be a background element from the main components so you can pull back a bit on cabling and dials and it still doesn't effect the finished look

as usual there's a bunch of pics but I hope you don't mind! I really (as usual) hope you like them and get inspired to have a crack at something yourself! I just love FW models!

Love the worn, dirty look of them, and the dark, muted palette. Just my kinda thing

Thank you everyone! I really like them too, very fun to paint and the majority was suprisingly easy to do with the metals! lots of washes with scratches and weathering sandwiched between them, it's a useful way to do worn armour or vehicles especially anything Orky (which I have done) i'm going to be doing a GK force using the same technique but keeping them more dark grey/purple than the more burnished look.

Would you mind sharing the recipe / process for the brassy bronzey metal?

The fast run down of how I go about my metals is pretty simple and you can tweak it to suit your tastes as you paint! there's no hard and fast order i stick too but the basic premise is a metal primer washed with multiple washes and interspersed with scratches in a bright silver. for example:

*prime with silver primer I use The Army Painter Plate metal

*wash with Agrax Earthshade

*wash with Seraphim Sepia

*add small scratches and chips with mithril or similar

*wash again with Agrax

*wash darker areas with Nuln Oil and add more scratches

*wash with Sepia

*add final scratches

you can add more or less washes depending on the look you want, or even add different colours to the layers like a purple or a green which I've done in the past. It's pretty 'basic' but it looks good and anyone can do it!
