Here's my Ghostkeel Battlesuit:

Went with the classic colourtheme as I've always quite liked it, just altered some shades.

Very nice.

I love this model. I already intended to buy 3 before i even saw the rules just because the model is amazing. I still got 1 more to paint up.

Thank you.

I agree, the model is awesome. I personally don't like the way standard battlesuit looks, but with this the design team nailed it to my taste.

Well, the crisis suits suffer from 2 things

1) size. Its hard to add proper detail to a small model, and we wouldnt want to pay for one that managed to do it. They'd be 50USD each if they got to the same quality of the Ghosts, screw that. 25USD is alot as it is.

2) They are a staple unit thats been around for awhile, so they really cant overhaul them without breaking the image of the Tau. Just like how Space Marines dont really change that much, the Crisis suit really cant either. What we got this release is about as good as were gonna get.

Only thing i dont like about our ghosts/riptides is if we pose them in unique poses, theyre a nightmare to assemble...

Spoiler:

Thats my 2nd Ghostkeel, the first is in the stock pose. This thing was a nightmare to pose properly lol

Commander:

I went for a dynamic pose. Converted a Farsight -style shield (as I can then use the mini to stand-in.) Some battle damage as before.

Also added new pics of the Ghostkeel, who like the rest of the army, received zenith highlights and was repainted about 20%.

Sorta the original Commander model pose, but not as stupidly dramatic/leaning.

Also i never understood why people put blue OSL on a Fusion blaster. Fusions are not the same energy plasma/ions are, in fact a lot of art usually depicts them with red parts on the weapon. I make mine OSL with red (or try to since OSL without an airbrush is a nightmare)

Well, personally I did it just because I wanted to ( and because it's blue almost without exception in every Shadowsun picture ever ) and I prefer the blue on Tau whereas I like a red glow on my CSM. Must be some unconcious Star Wars thing?

Ooh, that commander looks baller. Love the idea for the shield, that's one of my favorite aspects about the Farsight model and I never really thought of doing that myself. Is that bit from the riptide or the stormsurge?

I'm assuming it's the stormsurge, since I just remembered the riptide shield generator isn't perfectly round like that.

Hey mate, and thanks. The shield is indeed from the Stormsurge, super easy kitbashing.

That commander looks great! The OSL is superb, and the model overall has a very sharp look that I like a lot.

Thanks guys. Accolade, I can guarantee you that painting the highlights on these models is killing me (a big factor in the crisp look.)

I'm currently working on a Skyray and I passed 200 painted edgelines on the hull alone...

Oh man, quite a variety. I have Vallejo Game Colour, some Army Painter, and Vallejo Premium Air and Model Air. Also a few Citadel paints.

Skyray finished:

Few hundred painted edge lines were done on the hull only. Disappointingly they have almost vanished in the photos, must be some setting. Best visible on the middle bottom picture of the rear hatch. I used zenithal highlighting here like in the other miniatures, the ship being a different shade from the top and front than what it is from the sides and bottom (darker.)

Won't be painting another one, ever. The amount of work it took to get everything smooth was massive, and it doesn't really even show that much, so a bit unrewarding. Ah well, it's done and I can move on.

Damn. That looks pretty good. OSL is a bit weak, and you have a few gun barrels to drill, but it's still a pleasure to look at.

Lolwut? Gun barrels? What gun barrels are on a vehicle with only missile weapons?

I love the model, it is truly inspiring!

Howdy all, did some updating. I improved some highlights on the minis, making them just slightly stronger to get some pop. I also added a more rusty red tone to the bases, something I originally wanted but at first didn't succeed.

Also, took some new pictures that should show the painting a bit better.
