I need help dealing with 3 Knights in 1850. How the eff do you kill that many superheavies without going superheavies vs superheavies which is just boring to me.

Maulerfiends with lasher tendrils makes my melta bombs somewhat useful, they might actually live long enough to throw them. A D-thirster can take out one but not 2 let alone 3. Soulgrinders dont fight well against other walkers. a DP with goredrinker? PF termies? smashing DP's?

Any help is appreciative, two of my friends have 3 knights in 1850, an IG player and an Admech/skitarri player. They wipe me in turn 1 or 2 every game.

You can take this army all day man. It's tailored, but it'll work:

KDK CAD
Lord-Bike, Axe of Ruin
Dthirster
3x: 3 Termis w/ 3x combi-meltas
2x Cultist
1 minimum bike squad w/ 2 Meltas
2 Maulerfiends (130 each)

Allied CSM
Belakor
2x Cultist
Rapier Laser Battery- 3 Rapiers. (120 total. Swap with Maulers if KDK can take em. Not sure, have to look it up).

Comes to 1829.

Clearly a DThirster is needed. Take Belakor, to invis the Dthirster, and a lord on a bike with Axe of Ruin to get a second DThirster. Turbo boost the lord directly at the closest Knight and invis the other. There is a serious issue for at least two knights. 3 squads of 3 termies with 3 combi meltas to DS behind or beside to avoid the Ion shield. If you can take Rapiers with KDK, swap out 2 Maulers and 1 Rapier for 2 Rapiers and 1 Mauler. You'll save 10 pts. Use bikes to escort the lord until its time for him to Suicide Saiyan into a knight.

If you cant use FW, swap rapiers for a TriLas Pred or 2 more Oblits. The idea is these units force the knights to keep the Ion Shield facing toward you, so your DS units can eat em up from the sides and behind. Anything you can suicide into and kill is a win for you. Belakor can fly, be invisible, and has armorbane, so can dish it out as needed. Fly him around and invis the DThirsters, Maulerfiends, and pump as much Melta into them as possible.

Other options include allying in Necrons or Cult Mech for hull point stripping, or Orks for hords with hidden PK's. I dont like it, but it could work

One of the issues of the above being that the axe of ruins doesn't bring in a Dthirster. Just a regular one. So that doesn't work. The rest of what he said is pretty sound. Chaos fire raptors are also a good shout if you're happy to ally in CSM.

Pairing maulers can work pretty well, one with lashers and one with magma cutters. 2 pairs of this combo are pretty dangerous. But there is the risk of losing one on the way there.

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them

Good point. My mistake. Drop lord and bikes for 2nd Dthirster. Comes to about the same.

Second idea, fly everything. 2BT 3 Heldrakes and ally in flying deamons. If they don't have Icarus autoCannons they can't shoot much, so focus in on the AA they do have them pick apart. Beam of Tzeentch, Iron Arm Lash of Slaanesh, vector strikes and a few Dthirsters, all invisible. Go airborne.

If your point limit is 1850, you are never going to get all that in one list.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

The most reliable way is going extreme msu and outscoring him. Luckilly, kdk are really good at msu.

Try to threaten him with a D-thirster here and there but in general, you don't even need to kill knights to win them. Focus on the rest of his army and scoring. Just let the maelstorm win a game for you if it seems unlikely you're going to wipe the opponent out.

KDK CAD

(550) 2x Ragethirster
(357) 3x Termicide with 3 Combi Meltas
(116) 2x Cultst squads, plain.
(260) 2x Maulerfiends

Allied CSM
(350) Be'lakor
(50) Cultist
(165) Chaos Rapier Battery with 3 Laser Destroyers

Total 1848.

Assuming you can run Forge World for one HS slot. Otherwise a TriLasPred is 140ish and a Possesed Vindicator is around 150 and both can do the trick, although both will die fast to multiple battle cannons.

You need a technomancer as your allied HQ choice to take one relic unfortunately, which would rule out a fire raptor.

Broadly agreed. Expendable troops in many small units, backed up by multiple Bloodthirsters of Insensate Rage.

3 Combined Arms Detachments, each with 3 squads and a 'thirster of Insensate Rage, gives you a hell of a lot of objective secured board coverage, and enough anti-superheavy threat to keep the knights honest.

One major concern: Knights are ~375 points, give or take weapon options, relics, etc, etc. So three knights is just over a thousand points. What's in the Other half of the army?

Termagants expended for the Hive Mind: ~2835

A Kytan naturally has I5 I believe. That's easily a hard counter.

You said you didn't want to use Super Heavy stuff though.

If you want to kill them: D-Thirster, preferably with Be'Lakor as support or Maulerfiends.

Tarpitting, distracting and out-scoring him also works. You don't charge him, you just put your 5 recently summoned Flesh Hounds right in front of him, spread out, forcing him to either charge them or spend time walking around.
