I am thinking of making the Pinion Demi Company where:
"During shooting, a Scout Sarge can spot for another unit from the Company within 9", giving that unit Ignores Cover. In addition, each Scout squad can lead another unit out of reserve (but not Deep Strike Reserve), and you use one roll for both the Scout unit and the other unit. If the Scouts outflank, the following unit arrives from the same table edge even if they can't normally outflank. When the two units arrive in this way, the unit being led gets Stealth until their next turn if they were within 9" of the Scouts leading them."
This is the the main detachment for my Raven Guard Talon Strike Force (It allows a re-roll for mission type, table side to deploy from, and your dice n the roll-off for who goes first. You can choose to auto-fail Morale checks, and you can roll for reserves on the first turn, passing on a 4+.)
I am planning to have a scout squad lead a 5 man tactical squad in the map and then link up with the devastators to spot for them (preferably while holding objectives) for sure
But instead of using a second scout squad to lead in a 5 man special weapon/combi weapon of that special weapon, I was thinking of using a scout bike team instead to lead them in, give them stealth and ignores cover as well. The scout bikes could be teamed with a melta unit to crack open vehicles with krak grenades or team up with a flamer unit to thin down infantary with frag grenades?
Does this seem useful, or do I stick to normal scouts with bolt guns?
