Greetings all! I played warhammer fantasy religuously and devoted my warriors of c h as to papa nurgle. Seeing that the game has changed sone, most of my gaming group is trying to get more involved in 40k. I have decided to go nurgle marines, as it fits the lore and paint scheme I gave come to love. We are starting out at 1000 points to keep costs down as we begin the journey. Would you guys mind giving me some feedback on my list? This is what I have so far...

Typhus

30 plague zombies
30 plague zombies

3 chaos bikes
Mark of nurgle
2 melta guns
Combi-melta

3 chaos bikes
Mark of nurgle
2 melta guns
Combi-melta

5 havocs
4 Autocannons

5 havocs
4 Autocannon

I know that chaos marines are not a super power. But I do like being the bad guy. I will be playing spade wolves, grey Knights, and eldar. The one big change I was thinking of was possibly replacing the three bikes with four unmarked spawn. Like I said, I'm playing more for fluff but I'd like to be semi competetive. Any advice is always appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It looks pretty decent. I would keep the bikes, you only have the 2 bike squads for anti tank. Autocannon havocs won't do much to AV13+ and often struggle against AV12. Plus spawn packs aren't very damaging, their main strength is to be a meat shield for a bike lord.

If you want to branch out to Renegades, both Imperial Armour books (especially Vraks) have some great Nurgle options, and even include a detachment specially for Nurgle lovers that Chaos Marines can use too.

I have a large majority of the imperial armor books. I don't recall seeing anything nurgle related. I remember sone alpha legion and khorne stuff. Do you have an idea of what the units are called so I can search my pdfs?

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

If you love nurgle why not take a flying daemon prince of nurgle and give him three mastory levels.

You could try to get invisibility from telepathy and follow your bike squad around giving them hard to hit.

I take the nurgle prince and he is a beast as a support unit and is still good if challenged because of his 5 smash attacks. Quite alot of points but worth it.

Smash attacks are reduced to 1 attack.

If you meant 5 Str5 ap2 attacks then I understand. But if you meant 5 Str10 attacks you are wrong. Your MC trades all their attacks for 1 Smash Attack at double str.

also a flying dp must waste a turn switching flight modes and can not assault that turn. Also can not shoot the flame template if flying. I think it can in gliding mode.

If you look at IA13 there is a HQ you can take to get a different kind of plague zombie than Typhus. Its cheaper.

Personally at 1000

I would run

Biker Lord, MoN , pf+lc , sigil@165

2x10 cultists@100

your 2x3 bikers
5 Spawns of Nurgle to escort lord

your 2x5 havocs

need some form of lascannons or mauler fiend as fire magnet.

I did mean the 5 Str5 ap2, sorry for not being clear.

My prince was once attacked by a squad of marines with meltas that reduced me to 1 wound. I assaulted them on my turn and insta-killed the squad.

The daemon prince kind fire or assault on that turn when it switches to flying, however it can still use it's psychic ability on Krell's bikers.

Slightly irrelevant but a Daemon Prince is Strength 6, so don't cheat yourself out of a point of strength in combat.

My bad. I thought it was str5. Misread the S6 T5 part.
