So, my bags of DKoK have arrived, and I'm looking at taking them for some games. I came up with a list I feel is strong enough to hold its own in casual games. It has some serious weaknesses - armour spam and flyers, something that won't be remedied until I get hold of more models! I own everything for this list aside from the CCS, PCS and second Chimera, so I'm really looking for advice on progressing this list from 750 to 1000 points while shoring up it's weaknesses.

The idea for the current list is to blob the infantry platoon into one or two squads depending on the enemy and attaching the Priest to the squad as a big advancing blob. The two veteran squads hunt down key targets, and the sentinel is hopefully either ignored long enough to pop some transports or focused to death at the advancement of my advance. I'm well aware I won't cope well against very competitive lists, but I don't want to run some optimised Pask+2xMeltaVets list, as I want to do the DKoK justice.

++ Command Staff 115 ++
CCS, Mortar, Master of Ordnance, Vox
Ministorium Priest

++ Platoon 280 ++
PCS, Vox, Missile Launcher
IS, Vox, Flamer
IS, Vox, Grenade Launcher
IS, Flamer
IS, Flamer

++ Veterans A 160 ++
Veterans, Demolition Doctrine, Shotguns
Chimera, ML, HB, Dozer Blade

++ Veterans B 145 ++
Veterans, 2 Meltaguns
Chimera, ML, HB

++ Sentinel 50 ++
Armoured Sentinel, Autocannon

::: 750 :::

The only other AM models I currently own are a Hades Breaching Drill and ten more guardsmen. Thanks for any and all advice!

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

At 750pts you will go up against a lot of large blast with high damage.
I myself take a knight which puts out a strength 9 large blast melta shot which would make quick work of a squad of guardsmen or a chimera. (Not mentioning close combat attacks)
Your army puts out a lot of firepower but that is assuming they're still alive by your turn.
I would suggest losing some guardsmen for some leman russes.

Also think about flyers.
(Here comes the hellturkey)

Oh, I would get easily wiped by a Knight at 750 points, but I'm building the list with the full knowledge and understanding that I can't beat certain units, like Wraithknights and Imperial Knights. The only chance I would have is spreading out sufficiently to mitigate its damage and try to outplay the rest of the army. To be honest, I wouldn't want repeat games against a Knight at 750 points anyway!

I think that when moving to 1000 points, I will definitely include a Leman Russ of some variant, and then a flyer when moving to 1500 or as an alternate to the Russ in an alternate list.

Still a vendetta is only 170pts and leman russ around 140pts so you could lose a squad of guardsman and take either, it would just mean giving your army a bit of army. If nothing else they would draw fire away from your squishy guardsmen.

A Russ maybe, but a Vendetta at 750 leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I feel like many lists will really, really struggle against a Vendetta at 750 unless they also took a flyer?
