this is basically a chance for us ork players to blurt out why we love orks! this isnt a post to encourage more poeple to play orks...since most quit playing when 7th codex came out....its just for a reminder of what drew us to these greenskins in the first place.
link anything necesary whether it be music, art, models, literature, jokes, movies or videos. even if it isnt technically warhammer 40k, it just makes you want to bellow out WAAAAGH!!!
I love Orks the most simply because I find that they are honestly one of the most original and fun things in 40K. Few factions are as surprisingly multi-dimensional in their portrayal.
They have their silly sides like the awesome DoW Retribution campaign:
While also having a serious alien feel to them with how far off in their motivations they are compared to humans, Eldar and the rest of the "civilized" races which is more or less summed up in Uthan the perverse's quote:
"The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude."
Then you have their mad max ramshackle like technology which of course leads to one of the greatest of all Ork traits: Lootin!
Spoiler:
Most of all there is the indefatigable orky spirit of taking for another go at the enemy, retreatin' just another way of coming back more for later! I like to see that currently for our relatively sub par Ork codex, we Orkses made through 2 editions without an update, we can get through plenty more!
Honestly, personally, I love the aesthetic of some parts of the Ork army immensely. In addition to that the Orks personality and nature of interaction makes them by far and away one of the most entertaining of the factions to read or hear about. They are certainly amongst my absolute favourite components of the entire setting.
