A simple question that I am having trouble answering: what can be done against these two powerful armies that use ranged weapons to mow down assault attempts. The chief problem I have against them is DSing broadsides w/crisis commanders, and necron deathmarks and destroyer cults. The former just makes units disappear, while the latter hit hard and just never die

Your only real answer is out-scoring and out-msuing them. Try to tie them up with what you have and don't let them claim objectives too often.

MSU. MSU as much as you can.

Not only it increases your blood tithe gains (allowing you to summon even more replacements), but it completely and utterly feths up with tau targeting shenanigans.

If there is one thing tau excel at, is picking one high value target-and utterly decimating it. deny them that target.

And as added bonus, against tau melee incompetence even a random mook making it into CC is a credible threat. and a single dude left to make the charge-even if he can't possibly survive overwatch-can force it to waste on him.

Beyond that-moving fast is value.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
