So with the addition of the Skathach WKs, does anyone have any thoughts on the best WK loadout now?

I think it is safe to say that the Suncannon WK can definetly be taken out of the running. Both Skathach WK's out match it, both in damage output and potential gun/shield combo.

However, I do think that the new WK's are more balanced, not only by being slightly more expensive, but also by not having D-weapons. For those that dont know, here is a summary of the new WK's: both can "shunt" into ongoing reserves, both can trade one of their guns for a shield for free.

The Deathshoud cannons are like mega Nightspinners, with str 7, Ap4 monofilament, shred and either Hellstorm template or 48" Massive blast fire modes

The Inferno Lances (I dont think they have 'lance' despite the name) are 36" D3+2 melta shots. That's a minimum of 3 shots per gun, possible 10 shots total if equipped with 2 Inferno lances!!!
------------------------------------

Personally, I think 1 Inferno Lance WK > 1 Wraithcannon WK. Even though it has to get closer for Melta range, having more shots just makes it more reliable/versatile. I often feel the need to shoot both Wraithcannons are the same target for fear of missing that 1 shot. In my book reliability > potential. However, since the "potential" seems to increase dramatically when doubled, 2 Wraithcannon WK > 2 Inferno Lance WK.

The Deathshroud WK seems like tons on fun, but fills a role that a WK should not. Horde control belongs with other choices like Scatter bikes and Nightspinners. I need a WK in my list to 'pew-pew' heavy targets.

One reason I like the Deathshroud is the ignores cover Hellstorm template. I can't wait to use it on a Ghostkeel or Ravenwing unit.

Agreed. Destroyer weapons - especially in a big-thing-on-big-thing fight, are essentially fishing for a Deathblow hit (a '6'). Multiple shots become very important there, because each time you add a shot the odds of your target surviving drop to 83% of what they were before. Equally, the shield doesn't really help.

One cannon with a shield is a better buy against more 'conventional' opponents because it has the rate of fire and the scattershield helps keep lascannon and missile fire off you.

One reason I like the Deathshroud is the ignores cover Hellstorm template. I can't wait to use it on a Ghostkeel or Ravenwing unit.

Warning about the former - if he's still got holophoton countermeasures he can stop you firing at all. It's still a damn-nasty gun, though.

If I have only one Wraithknight in the army, the 5+ inv save is pretty much mandatory for me. There is simply so much in the game right now that can drop a Wraithknight in a single turn. I will need the Inv Save and FnP roll to survive for a few turns I have not run the new Wraithknight combos yet, but will definitely give them a look. In my army, I need something as more of a counter assault element, so the Sword/Shield or even Suncannon/Scatterlaser/Shield works very well for me.

If running 2 Wraithknights, the dual Wraithcannon and Sword/Shield has been the preferred method, mainly b/c I've not had the chance to view the new Wraithknights.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

@ Sarigar: Remember that both the new WK's can swap one Gun for a shield. So you can have a Inferno lance/shield or Deathshroud/shield combo.

I remember, but have not played them. The Suncannon and Scatterlaser has done well for me and I am curious about the one with the Deathshroud.

I like the suncannon+shield combo. I've only gotten to use it once (in a proxy game I did before I started buying into Eldar) and it did quite well for me. Can't say anything for the new WK's though.

I personally thrilled for the Deathshroud Wraithknight. My local meta uses jinking, cover, and shrouding to an extreme. That being said I am still partial to the Ghostglaive generally speaking.

If I was going to take a ranged Wraithknight; I would definitely take the Fusion Cannons. Statistically runs similar to the D-Cannon but is less binary in damage, and in any environment where ranged D is nerfed it takes on a whole new strength.

I like the sword and shield personally. Eldar really don't need a wraith knight to get efficient shooting, they do however need counter assault units in certain instances, or to just put pressure on an enemy. At a local GT I killed a Tau'Nar with my sword and board only WK, no way he would have survived and managed to kill that thing with any other variety of WK. Even double wraith canons fails to win that bout due to it's insane shield and 10 wounds. I also think he is a perfect balance in my list, he isn't amazing against smaller targets at all in fact but he gets more valuable and better based on how much of a hammer my opponent might bring. I feel like the new varieties just wreck underdogs even more but fail to respond to things an eldar list could use help against.
