Hi all! I'm torn, I've asked before, and you guys helped me narrow it down, but what one do I do first?
These will both be relativley small (for 30k, that is) and both will hopefully be done by some point, but what one:

Solar Auxilia w/ possibly militia allies
Mechanicum

with Auxilia and Mechanicum, I love the models of both, and I have a general plan for both (moreso for the auxilia), and pricing is an issue, but is slightly mitigated by friends locally. Any input on which one I should go with and why?

Always a hard choice
I would say Auxilia for the simple reason that every squad can take an ADL

A Mechanicum force will have less models!
I would be really pleased to see either faction opposite from me, but as an Ordo Reductor player i would enjoy solar auxilia more; they're like plucky guardsmen, just with proper equipment!

Thanks! how would going with Auxilia, and using the upgrades that let me take Thallax and Castellax as heavy support options work out for me? I know that if it doesn't work with Auxilia, I can always set the Thallax in my Legion for a time, any thoughts on the matter?

If you enjoy them both equally, now's probably the time to get reasonable on the wallet and think about the costs of each.

Of course if any of us were reasonable on the wallet, we wouldn't be in this hobby.

I'm gonna give Auxilia a special snowflake vote. I have seen numerous Mechanicus armies, but I've never seen a Solar Auxilia army.
