So I learnt today that the holder of the tournament I was entering does not allow any forgeworld rules, this means my chaos knight cannot become a daemon and grimoire will not effect him. Please tell me there is someway to get around this, I need to give that knight daemon but I have to use the imperial knight rules.

(All of us who were entering are pissed because the itc rules allowed forgeworld, our team was a: a titan, buzzgob, imperial armour, chaos knight. All of us have to make new lists.)

That's.....really unfortunate seeing as the only Chaos-specific Lord of War that isn't from Forge World is the Lord of Skulls. Imperial Knights become "Come the Apocalypse" for Chaos due to being Agents of the Imperium too. Is the tournament some kind of big titan-clash at 750 points per player?

There's no way to buff an Imperial Knight with Chaos rules whatsoever, Agents of the Imperium - including Knights - are "Come the Apocalypse" with all Chaos forces, meaning that even if your Daemon Prince had psychic powers he would never be able to affect the Imperial Knight. Unless you can shout the TO down to allow your Chaos Knight, you're out of options with regards to your list and will have to change it. Assuming you are a Chaos player, you may have to just swap the Imperial Knight out for something else :(

EDIT: I might be wrong but I just remembered there is a rule in the Apocalypse book that allows you to take any Imperial Lord of War choice for a Chaos army and treat it as part of the Chaos faction. This would allow you to take the Imperial Knight, but it still wouldn't be able to get any kind of daemon rules - though at least your Daemon Prince would then be able to affect it with psychic powers. EDIT 2: Scratch that, it's Apocalypse only!

Sorry I was unclear, I can still take the knight as chaos but I have to use the imperial knight rules. It means I can take it in a chaos army but I can't upgrade it to a daemon of nurgle for instance.

I see, yeah there doesn't seem to be a way around that then as there's no way to confer the Daemon special rule to an Imperial Knight.
