Hi fellow Dakkanauts,
As the title said, I'm looking for a way to convert some historical Cossack cavalry for my Russian-themed IG. I come to you hoping you could help me on the scale of diverse miniature brands. I want to know whether or not they would be nice side by side with GW heroically scaled dudes.
For the moment, I have spotted these kits :
Perry Miniatures;
https://www.perry-miniatures.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_62&products_id=2498&osCsid=pamdnv5n4nmna8ub6cnpmet0u0
Looks detailed and is very cheap but I'm afraid the'yre really underscaled. Does anyone has ever worked with such minis? Does some green stuff could do the trick?
Zvezda
https://www.hlj.com/product/zve3579/Mil
They fit better the theme as they are real Cossacks but they are darn cheap and that is worrying me. Good point for being mulitpart. Same questions as above?
Any other brand that could be good for me? Thanks in advance for the input.

The warhammer kislev models would be great but they are kinda hard to get these days.

Mmmh, I guess they are kind of cartoony. I'm really trying to stick to a military/realistic theme so the Zvezda guys could be great.
But I don't want to do mistake !

So do you guys have ever work with Perry Cavalry? If yes, I'd really like to know how it is matching with GW minis' scale.
Sorry for insisting but I have to decide if I order some Perry for Christmas!

The Cossacks would be way too big. 28mm is around 1/56 whereas they're 1/32.

Hi
Perry's Napoleonic range is 28mm.
I have a some of the War of the Roses cavalry from Perry Miniatures. I can say that they are great sculpts. They are 28mm like Citadel miniatures but they have more realistic proportions so look slightly less chunky than Citadel.
Here is a side by side shot of a Citadel IG and Perry Cavalry.
Here is a Perry on foot next to the Citadel IG. Note that the Perry has a pointy helmet which makes him look taller and the IG helmet has been modelled by me to sit lower at the neck.
You should be able to mix and match fairly easily. On the table you will never notice a difference especially if you add some IG bitz to bulk them out

@Nullbot
Thanks for insight, anyway they have been discountinued by Zvezda. Too bas, I loved their designed.
@vim
Your pic is fantastic, that is exactly what I was looking for on the Internet!
Is that metal or plastic? Because about Perry, I saw they had cossacks but in their metal range and I guess it's going to be a pain in the *** to convert them (I want them to carry lasguns and meltaguns)?
Is the metal easy to manipulate or should I use other cavalry with a less desirable design or should I buy the metal Cossacks anyway?

Well the link that you have in your OP is to the Plastic French Hussars so plastic not metal. Quite often the Perry legs and torso are a one piece sculpt with the arm holding the reins being sculpted onto the body.
I would really advise you to look for the sprue images on Google or the relevant entry on the Perry site as I have no idea of your conversion intentions so unable to judge how hard it would be.

My conversions would be light. I mean I'll add some 40k weapons and green stuff features on their uniforms. For this reason, I will try with the metal Cossacks from perry, hoping they are not too undersized.
Thank you very much for the advice.
