New to the forums. I play X-Wing, Armada, and 40k Necrons. I have a small Chaos and Tau army, but I don't like them. too many damn options. Plus, I don't like that they stay dead. I want my troops to die at least 3-4 times.

Same reason some people start games like fallout and skyrim on the "hard" setting rather than the "easy" one. It cheapens every achievement you ever make to be overpowered vs. Your opponent. Anyone can say "yeah you beat me, but that's cause x is too killy or y is unkillable or z is way too mobile." And they'd be right most of the time. In the same sense, the wins underpowered factions get are a large accomplishment that leaves a great feeling in you. Nothing can cheapen them.

That, and some people really love the fluff and aesthetics of armies rather than their power level, and enjoy having a connection with their army beyond "cool, I can roflstomp these noobs with their non-cheese armies that they love even though their rules suck." Doing that forever would be so boring and would remove the point of playing a game.

I don't play Necrons because they are powerful. I play them because I like undead things, and Necrons are 40k's zombies.

I wanted to play Necrons even when they had the old, 9 years since last update, you have to play your ass off to win codex. I somewhat wish Necrons were more a skill army based around finding synergy between various units.

I miss my 5th edition codex crypteks and the fun things that were possible with them.

Because I like crushing smug eds like you. (JK)

But seriously what kind of question is "Why does no one play the overpowered army?"

Its like saying "I will give you $1,000,000,000 to let me cut your dick off" and then complaining because some people want to keep their dick.

People will play what they want to play, and a meta of all Necrons would be hell to fight. Hell, it IS hell to fight.

Still bite my shiny Mechanicum arse you metal Egyptian ed.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Man I wish I could still play 4th Ed codex. I loved the old fluff or lack of it. As someone who owns 3K worth of Necrons yeah I completely agree. The new dex is so stupidly easy to play. I'm already hated at my club because of my Admech, why increase that by bringing back my crons

And the old one wasn't? At least the new stuff presents options.

Yeah Sorry got a bit nostalgic there. It was stupidly simplistic even for back then.

Lol, these posts were fantastic. I chose to start with Necrons honestly because of how cool I thought they were in Dawn of War.

Necrons aren't that tough. I reliably have a 6:1 kill ratio with my death guard when I play against them. The hammer of the Emperor swings hard.

Welcome!

I find that if I play my Necron army I choose no formations and no Decurion and I get a lot more games in and they are closer games as well.

I now play my Necrons only at tournaments or only in tournament prep games. I have a SW army I play casually because I find close games to be much more enjoyable.

Oooook killer, calm down. If you're winning 84% of the time against Necrons, you should write a guide.

Surprising statement, cause Canoptek Wraiths make 99% of the games totaly one sided. It feels like, play Necrons = Win Every game.
