Hey there guys, I had a double STAW weekend over Thanksgiving and wanted to share. I have been very busy with work so it has taken a while to get things posted.

Anyway the first event was supposed to be Balance of Terror. We had a quite a few new comers so we didn’t want it to be too complicated for them, so we threw out the OP rules and just played a 120 point match with a planet in the middle. Honestly for me I liked it better that way. Here is what I flew

Round 3 was against a Romulan fleet. This was my brother in-law, I got him in and he wanted to give Romulans a go. So I hooked him up with something simple that he wouldn’t have to think much about.

I won rounds 1 & 3, but lost to the Klingons. It was enough though to come in 2nd and snag a USS Intrepid. Sorry I don’t remember too much of the play by play but I do recall that the combo of Retik on the Halik raider was pretty cool. Usually rolling 4 defense dice and at range 3 or if the Ogla was nearby it was up to 5. The Particle Beam weapons were great to boost the fire power of the little raiders.



The next day was a TCW 1.

I flew an alternate of the Equinox build I have been using. I love the Nebula class so I subbed it in for the Defiant.

I pulled a bad move with the Equinox and he unloaded with everything on it. He got just enough to take it out, one less hit and it would have made it. I did lead him on a good chase with the Sutherland but he caught it just in time. I almost made him fly his Scimitar off the table, but I think there was a convienient nudge. Oh, well it was a fun chase, but a loss.

This person was completely new and had no prior gaming experience. I didn’t want to be “that guy” who beats up the noob, so I decided not to use the Equinox’ ability and didn’t use Desoto. I didn’t make it too easy for them, but I didn’t play my A game. They had a good time and won by taking out my Marauder. I plucked off some shields and let them chase me around. So a second loss, but I don’t mind in this case.







Third round was a bye.



This venue gives out 1 prize for 1st and roll off the other 2 ships. Karma was on my side and I snagged myself another bug ship, maybe they will ally with my Tholians. The store also let us buy some extra blinds. I picked up the Lakota and the Belak. That gives me 7 out of the 10 so I am pretty happy. It was a fun weekend, no serious cut throat gamers, just some trek fans. Playing Kazon was awesome, I may have to break them out again. My venues will be on OP break until after Christmas, so maybe I can get some more casual games in. The brother in-law had a good time I am trying to set up some like a Wolf 359 cooperative game so he can work on flying.
