Yay! I finally had time yesterday night to finish these guys up It's a tactical squad for Calth, minus the heavy weapons fella, who I decided to do separately, since the model will be so different from the bolter guys. I can't stress enough how much I like the arms on these guys: that tiny little wrist guard just makes it so much faster to pose and construct. I'm very happy with the posability of the legs, torso, arms, etc. Everything from this bunch is straight out of the Calth box, except the decals for the shoulder pads, which are just the old standard Space Marines ones.

The entire squad is built RTB-01 style, with the armor spikes facing the enemy, on the left shoulder, and the chapter symbol on the right shoulder. Hey, remember when that was a thing, with the reasoning being that those spikes provided extra armor? Wow, that's a blast from the past. I think it's been 20 years since I painted a space marine with a spiked shoulder pad! It kind of wanted me to rip through old RTB-01 bits and make a classic space marine.

Oh, incidentally, these are the first photos I've taken with four 600 LED lighting panels that I scooped up last month. Annoyingly, the in-camera CWB (custom white balance) doesn't seem to work very well with them, but fortunately they come out pretty well with white balance adjustment in Photoshop using either a white or grey card.

Thanks in advance for your comments and criticism, which I always appreciate!

Love the whole red scheme (ie no yellow, just a little black etc)

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Does this squad go with the marine you finished earlier to complete the 10? They look awesome boss. Subtly stated by cleanly done. Good stuff.

Thanks, bubber!

@Castellan Alaric - I assembled and primed them at the same time, but they actually don't go together; the Calth squad all have spikes and decals on the shoulders -- they are actually the only squad of my new marines that use decals All the other ones have sculpted iconography of some kind.

When I play 40k, that's how I distinguish my squads -- each squad has distinctively sculpted shoulder pads and armor themes.

Very cool boss. I dig it. What are your plans for 30k? Looking for a big 30k force, or just small-ish? I'd like 2 BaC boxes to do what I want. Oh, plus a deredeo dread. And maybe a fire raptor hehe

Cool stuff, might nick one of those "firing" poses for one of my own models!

@Castellan Alaric - I am still trying to convince our group here to give 30k a go It will only happen if it's unanimous, and I don't think we'll give it a shot unless/until Forge World products will ship to GW stores without all the shipping and handling fees. But if that happens, they won't be small armies, hehe.

@thenoobbomb - thank you! I'm very fond of the "looking down the scope" poses (arm configuration D), which work both with the legs lined up with the shoulders, as well as the upper torso rotated.

Yeh, I hadn't thought of rotating the upper torso myself
